WEEK 0 — MARCH 29, 30

Week 0

You have been threatened by the Sergeant: if nobody dies before March 31st at noon, you, along with everyone else, will forfeit your lives. The Sergeant pushed everyone away from the Lodge, judging that had been enough interaction with his guests. So what now?

Will you submit to the Sergeant’s demands? Will you resist him and wait to see what happens? He wouldn’t be capable of killing you and everyone else, right?

Only time will tell.

The next day you'll find a newspaper at the motel lounge, telling you about today’s weather forecast with 100% accuracy. Looks like you can expect to find a newspaper every day to find out the weather and any other news about the town. It even includes something branded 'THE SHARK ALERT'. Who could that be directed to?

There's also a copy of yesterday's newspaper. There's nothing about the Sergeant or about your predicament, but there is something about your arrival to the town.

Cartesio is your world for the next four days, better make the most out of your time here.

OOC Note: The current IC:OOC ratio for the days is as follows: The 29th top-level covers Monday and Tuesday, while the 30th top-level is for Wednesday and Thursday.

[ misaki's chest starts to hurt. to see sakura like this...it hurts her. a lot. she keeps her hand on sakura's shoulder. between the two of them, well...looking angry certainly suits misaki a lot more. her brow's furrowed, her eyes are narrowed...

Well, if there are gonna be sharks, I at least wanna get Lammy back first. So he can punch 'em!

[ He doesn't sound too serious about that, for what are probably obvious reasons... ]

Yep, pretty weird, but something tells me it's done totally on purpose.

[ Why else have such an innocent-looking place in the midst of all this? ]

Not sure about that one, but as long as we've got this [ He waves the debit card around. ] we'll probably be fine. Anyway, are you going to get some ice cream too?

[ It was one good thing -- one that always would remind him of home. And other good things. ]

It's sea-salt ice cream. You ever have any before?

[ There it is in it's sea-green beauty, lying around as one of the ice cream choices. Some of him did attribute it to luck. ]

Lammy, huh? Is that some other kid who's a friend of yours back home?

[ ... Honestly, Axel has got to admire this kid's spunk. Not many children would go headfirst into danger. ]

He's not a kid. He's a super awesome combat shell!

[And this is the point at which Millium's player really wishes her canon would just call anything a goddang ROBOT.]

[ She looked at all the many different flavors. ]

Have you decided what kind you're getting yet?

[ while waver agrees that vandalism and thievery are much better alternatives to murder, both of them still leave him scowling at the sergeant. out of all the things he has, there’s only one thing that he truly cherishes. the catalyst to summon the king of conquerors, iskandar.

but that was never on his person to begin with. it should be with the archibald family as collateral for his debts. that should be out of the sergeant’s reach... right?

the only other thing that are missing are his cigars... but if his magecraft doesn’t work, then there’s no point. he might as well buy some malboros ]

You truly believe I will be tempted to steal a box of cigars?

[ A shell?

...An empty person? He doesn't know what to make of that. Maybe he's assuming wrong here, but consider his curiosity honestly bought. ]

What's the guy like? You know, personality-wise and all that.

Yep. I'm getting some sea salt ice cream.

Do you have a flavor picked out already?

[ waver sighs, closing his eyes as he thinks of the right words to say. it’s not fair that someone so innocent has to go through this; yet here they are. ]

There are some people who are driven by desperation to recover what they lost. An offer like this... is too good for them to refuse.

No, I haven't made my decision yet.

...Does sea salt ice cream taste like the sea?

[ ...Not that she knew what the sea tasted like. She'd never been. ]

He's big and white and blue and mechanical and he punches things really really hard! [Because that last part is clearly the important part...?]

He's great! ...But no one can understand him but me. Since we were linked together, and all.

[ waver is ALSO reading the newspaper, trying to weed out some important news. instead, all he gets is something about a shark forecast and the fact that they’re considered tourists.

at least misaki vocalizes her annoyance. waver, on the other hand, is angrily pulling a cigarette and lighting it up near a window. ]

And they’re the bloody bastards that think that we have to kill to prove our fucking worth.

[ Axel closes his eyes for a bit, and well, would you look at that? The red head's actually smiling -- it's something vaguely fond as he recalls something similar being asked of him. ]

Maybe...

[ He gives her question another second thought. Sea-salt ice cream tastes salty, but sweet -- though he honestly believes it turns out to be a better surprise when the person tasting it doesn't even know how it does. Granted, the red head didn't really like it at first ... ]

I'd tell you, but I think it's best to find out by trying it out first. Then maybe you can tell me how it tastes.

[She's shaking her head.]

Never heard of it. Eric's shop carried pretty typical flavors, nothing too special... I'm from a pretty small town.

[alfin]

[ Alfin blinked, certain she had seen wrong. But no, he was really smiling. He had a nice smile. Maybe he had just been in a bad mood yesterday due to being kidnapped...? She couldn't blame him if that was the case. Well, everyone deserved a second chance. ]

All right.

[ She swiped her debit card (that she had actually brought with her today) and purchased a small cone of sea salt ice cream. It was blue, like the ocean. How fitting. While she was admiring it, her stomach rumbled-- a reminder she hadn't actually eaten since being kidnapped. She might not have proof that this ice cream isn't poisoned, but there are worse ways to die than by eating ice cream. She just hoped it was a good flavor.

After staring at the ice cream in deliberation for a few more moments, she finally squeezed her eyes shut and took a bite. Her eyes instantly flew right back open, and she let the ice cream melt in her mouth before saying-- ]

Sharks are... large fish with sharp teeth, correct?

I have no idea what the obsession with them is, honestly. It doesn't seem like they'd be native.

... [There's nothing that she can say and instead she just ducks her head as if she's said something wrong entirely. Fingers tug at the hem of her skirt, feeling frustrated and tears start to drip from the edges of her eyes. She's frustrated.] That's horrible...

But still...! We can't trust him, can we? I mean, what if he doesn't give the people who end up doing that task of his the stuff anyway? [While she might not be good at it, she does understand that sometimes people hide things. People lie. But at the same time... she doesn't like it. It makes her heart twist and she just wants to cry.] And he might still-- ["he might still kill everyone", but she can't even say that now, her voice choked out.]
