WEEK 0 — MARCH 29, 30

Week 0

You have been threatened by the Sergeant: if nobody dies before March 31st at noon, you, along with everyone else, will forfeit your lives. The Sergeant pushed everyone away from the Lodge, judging that had been enough interaction with his guests. So what now?

Will you submit to the Sergeant’s demands? Will you resist him and wait to see what happens? He wouldn’t be capable of killing you and everyone else, right?

Only time will tell.

The next day you'll find a newspaper at the motel lounge, telling you about today’s weather forecast with 100% accuracy. Looks like you can expect to find a newspaper every day to find out the weather and any other news about the town. It even includes something branded 'THE SHARK ALERT'. Who could that be directed to?

There's also a copy of yesterday's newspaper. There's nothing about the Sergeant or about your predicament, but there is something about your arrival to the town.

Cartesio is your world for the next four days, better make the most out of your time here.

I think it'd be kind of cool. If I were psychic, I'd know the best time and place to lay the best pranks on some people I know back home.

[ He's half-serious because he's been too busy to do any of that before he's come here, but if he had window and it wouldn't mean his would get in trouble... ]

Well, I don't know if they know what those are, but I sure don't. How do Pokeballs work, anyway?

Yeah, there's a point. But if you like more than one, you could pick two or three of the best -- either way just humor me for a moment and pick something.

[ Lovepon falls silent, because she is, in fact, imagining that. ]

If the sharks were alive at the time of raining, that would suck for them.

Yeah! Y'know... mira? The shiny stuff you give to people when you wanna buy things?

[She's staring at him expectantly, because everyone should clearly know what her world's currency is!!]

[ Oh, he definitely meant friends but Alfin couldn't help but tease. At least a little. ]

Certain someones, hm? My, aren't we a player!

[ She giggled, then took another bite of her ice cream. She swallowed before speaking again, voice serious this time. ]

I'm sure we'll be able to make it out of here if we all work together.

[ She might not have gotten quite the response she had been hoping for from her speech yesterday, but she hadn't given up. Not yet. ]

We usually call things like Lammy "archaisms." "Robot" sure is a lot easier though. I'll get it memorized! [She grins.]

Ooh, yeah! I mean, it's not like it's hard to prank some of 'em anyway, but knowing when to do it perfect would be soooo much better!

But it'd be a shame to limit myself when I can be greedy. Why would it benefit me to pick only one when I can have everything?

Yen, won, yuan. I know many names for currency around the world, but never that. Where are you from exactly?

[ oh - well, that part he doesn't care about, but he'll smile blandly and nod. info is info, he supposes. ]

A priest? An exorcist? Forgive me for all the questions. As you can see, I have a special interest in these things.

Eh? My...? [ he looks between axel and the newspaper. ] On this? It did say something about sharks.

[ part of him realizes he probably shouldn't pick it up. it's obviously the topic and maybe this guy is trying to mess with people. too bad he can't help himself and, after giving it a very moderate look of irritation, he bends down, takes the newspaper, and sets it on the nearest surface. ] It could be, I guess.

Might as well. We've got four days.... Possibly to live.

[BUT AT LEAST HER CONSCIENCE WILL BE CLEAR OF ICE CREAM CRIME, as she's picking up the cups and coming over. One for each of them, since she doubts he'll be just passing this on to her.]

Do you... train Pokemon at all? But anyway, you throw a Pokeball at a Pokemon which converts it to energy, but still gives it the opportunity to break out if it doesn't want you as a trainer. If it does stay inside the ball, then you're officially the Pokemon's trainer.

[she shakes her head] ...No, he uses it for- [Should she say? Would Syaoran get angry if she did? Sakura clams up a little bit, biting on her lower lip before finally--] I don't know if you'll believe me, but he's a magician.

Mm. Mm...

[It's especially overwhelming when you're most likely the youngest one in a sea of everyone being literally older than you are. She's quiet, but it's an agreement.]

You mean like an ice cream party? I think that would be a nice way to get to know each other.

[Sakura Kinomoto has good ideas.]

... [Sakura is quiet for quite a bit -- while she doesn't disagree with what he's saying, it doesn't mean that she likes it.] Yeah... [Although when she says that word, she sounds rather torn, as if her heart's about to twist into pieces, and she can't look at anyone properly in the eye.]

EVENT - THE DAY HEATS UP

[In an instant everything can change. That’s the lesson of this week, isn’t it? Just a few short days ago twenty people were in the comfort their own worlds. Maybe they were living ordinary lives, maybe they were facing something terrible, or maybe they were the terrible thing being faced. But in the blink of an eye everything changed for them. They were kidnapped and told just one of them had to die so the rest could live.

In much the same way, something is about to change.

It starts as a few embers in the middle of the street but in seconds it turns into a raging inferno. Against the asphalt the flames rise and twist as they quickly extend, almost unnaturally so. They rush down the street until reaching the junkyard where they, seemingly without any reason, suddenly come to a halt. If anyone has the presence of mind to stop and look for a source they’ll find it a difficult task. There are no signs hinting at how or where the fire began. The sunny weather also doesn’t help, it’s as it’s enticing the fire to spread and be stronger, and there’s even a slight breeze fanning the flames. It’s a bad combination of weather at the worst possible time.

What’s plain to see, however, is how alarmingly quick the fire seems to be expanding. It’s coming dangerously close to not only to the motel nearby, but also houses belonging to innocent citizens. If the fire reaches them, this is bound to turn into a tragedy.

Will you try to resolve this situation before it escalates out of control?]

A... There's a fire!! [Sakura shouts that out aloud even if it's obvious that it's there. She doesn't know what to do, because she can't use her own magic right now - after all, the clear cards aren't with her, nor is her key staff here, either, so she can't do anything. And she hates that she feels so terribly useless like this and can't do anything but bring her hands towards her chest, staring at the flames but keeping a bit of a distance to them.]

[EXCUSE YOU THAT'S WHERE HE LIKES TO HIDE!

Hes running away from the fire, stopping just down the road and turning back. He's fine, he's fine. Just give him a moment to catch his breath-no pulling the neck of his hood up to cover his mouth.]

What the fuck...?

[Yup that's all he has to say. Then he's running around, pounding his fists on a few nearby doors. After a few he's jogging through the motel to hit those doors.]

Fire! You better get moving if you're in there!

MISSION - FAIR RETRIBUTION

[They say when it rains it pours. Unfortunately, this isn’t the kind of rain that will help anyone put out any fires. It looks like this time there’s something amiss at Cartesio Electronics. Fortunately, it isn’t a fire—though the day is still young—but it does spell trouble. It looks like there’s a small group of people dressed in military uniforms gathering near the entrance of the building.

Once they’ve all arrived, the glass doors open and they find that the receptionist is away. Strangely, the lobby is also devoid of people. Thankfully, at least, the building isn’t completely empty. The comfy couches, hardy tables, and the receptionist’s desk are all still here and in pristine condition. To the side there are some stairs leading to upper floors of the building.

Failure isn’t an option. If you don’t succeed, you won’t get your reward.

Once the group has completely entered the building there’s a gentle “click.” Sounds like the doors may have just locked behind everyone. If anyone tries to open the doors they’ll find them impossible to move. A closer examination shows the doors can’t be unlocked from the inside. It might be a security measure. If so, that’s certainly a peculiar time for them to activate. Then again, it may not be the time to think about that, after all, you’re here to commit a crime. Maybe the best thing to do in this situation is to get it out of the way and then worry about finding an exit.

What’s your first course of action? The decision is yours.]

it’s difficult for the lord to keep himself from swearing in front of the girl, but boy he sure feels the word right at the tip of his tongue. ]

My Lady, we musn’t stay here. [ he coughs when the wind blows the smoke his way. ] We must find some sort of help.

[clearities]

[What startles her out of her reverie is the sound of the familiar voice, nodding as she presses her lips together.] Is there... [She does agree that they shouldn't stay here, lest they get hurt.] Do you think we could find some sort of fire extinguisher?
