WEEK 0 — MARCH 29, 30

Week 0

You have been threatened by the Sergeant: if nobody dies before March 31st at noon, you, along with everyone else, will forfeit your lives. The Sergeant pushed everyone away from the Lodge, judging that had been enough interaction with his guests. So what now?

Will you submit to the Sergeant’s demands? Will you resist him and wait to see what happens? He wouldn’t be capable of killing you and everyone else, right?

Only time will tell.

The next day you'll find a newspaper at the motel lounge, telling you about today’s weather forecast with 100% accuracy. Looks like you can expect to find a newspaper every day to find out the weather and any other news about the town. It even includes something branded 'THE SHARK ALERT'. Who could that be directed to?

There's also a copy of yesterday's newspaper. There's nothing about the Sergeant or about your predicament, but there is something about your arrival to the town.

Cartesio is your world for the next four days, better make the most out of your time here.

OOC Note: The current IC:OOC ratio for the days is as follows: The 29th top-level covers Monday and Tuesday, while the 30th top-level is for Wednesday and Thursday.

Um... I don't think they'll be at the end of the trail... [And sure enough the trail dwindles to nothing with no sign of the arsonist. Girls. Girls please.] And they probably heard you coming and left, even if they were here...

[ Lovepon's hands form tight fists, but she calms down enough to give a response that is just loud speaking and not actual yelling. ]

But does they mean they're someone who's allowed to leave town? A sergeant's minion?

Sure did. Well, if it's ever cloudy, maybe we should be on the look out too.

[ It's okay, he doesn't have a secret ugly prank sitting for the guy for picking it up. That'd just be terrible!

Either way, he moves on, looking through the rest of the newspaper before sitting it on top of the other one Natsume had picked up. ]

So, that Sergeant guy. He's pretty full of himself, huh?

[ this, at least, he approves of. ]

That's right. Giving up now would be a little too early. And... such great power would be better put to use protecting people, wouldn't you say?

And then afterwards when we live, party hard, right?

[ He then gestures to which one's the sea salt ice cream -- because he hadn't pointed it out earlier. ]

... I suppose we're all lucky he seems pretty adamant about the sharks not happening.

Though that doesn't mean he won't do the same thing with lions, alligators or giant squid.

[ She tilts her head. ]

That sounds like something useful to have. Pokemon, I mean.

Seeing as you know all about them and mentioned them around the big guy, you must have your own, right? You ever get a chance to get 'em back?

Axel would have fucking gone wild if he knew Matoba's name and connected the dots with the puns. Honestly.

For now though he just easily catches the sass, smirking still. ]

Sounds like less of a fast metabolism and more like your stomach's a black hole here.

Possibly - even likely. [She seems the type to run ahead without thinking...] It might not be, though. It could be an ordinary citizen, an outsider, or even one of the 'tourists'.

[Probably somehow tied back to the Sergeant, though....he needs to think about this. Specifically - what's the purpose?]

[ Axel would deny he gives a shit but he can't stand it when a kid looks down. ]

You know this isn't the end, right, kid?

There's other things we could do to stick it to him. Know what I mean?

[Returning to the motel is easy, and you don't see anyone suspicious. It's a bit unnerving how there's nobody you can blame immediately, but at least you can take solace on how it was all solved peacefully.

In front of the motel is the street where presumably the fire started. There's no trace of accelerants, and the asphalt is still hot. The townspeople are finally going away, the danger is over. Still...what could have caused it?

Maybe there's something in the cracked asphalt that could be a clue? It could have been caused by the fire, but if it wasn't...

[ Axel just shakes his head in a bit of an exaggerated manner. ]

Remind me to never invite you over for dinner. Or if I do, to make sure there's enough portions as if I had invited all the people I know from back home.

[Just going to. very carefully start walking. They hold up a finger to their mask, before walking.]

Been awhile since I've had that flavor, but I think I've already picked mine out.

[ He swipes his to nab himself some sea-salt ice cream. Predicable, yes, but he's been eying it before. ]

Honestly, the weirdest thing about it is the fact that they're actually giving us money while we're here.

[ Usually when people are kidnapped the captors are less concerned about their well-being to this extent. ]

...What made you think he might bring those animals all of a sudden?

[ He's kind of curious about that. Honestly. ]

[They're wearing soldier outfits, man. They stand out just a bit.]

...I doubt it. If we knock them out it'd be easier but we don't have visual of 'em. So creeping around it is.

[Creeping around it is indeed.

By the time you reach halfway through the room, you finally hear steps, and the noise of...something. It's a strange noise, and the thud of someone falling to the floor]

Ah, shit!

[When you turn around you find someone in middle of the hallway. All around him there are lots of documents and paper. Looks like whatever way he was going was impeded by stacks of paper, and when he tried to get closer, he tripped, making the paper fall all around him, covering the floor. A couple of the cubicle walls also fell, pushing against others without managing to achieve a domino effect.

Still, that's a man, looking like a tired, sleep-deprived intern, and undoubtedly the one following you. Feeling like he can't go back now, he stands up, eyeing everyone with distrust]

Okay, what's going on here? Who the heck are you guys?

[He unconsciously glances behind himself for a second before standing right in middle of the hallway]

[ Fire having died down, Alfin is now examining places she couldn't before. This normally isn't something a princess would do, and she doesn't exactly have training in the matter... But that isn't going to stop her from trying her best! She bends down in front of the cracked asphalt, peering at (and inside) it curiously. ]

I was just thinking about something that would be equally as terrifying or interesting as sharks, which he seems to have a personal vendetta again.

It doesn't have to happen, but I think he just seems sadistic enough to pull it off.
