Epilogue

Welcome to Cartesio!
You open your eyes and see the ceiling of the lodge. There is no real sensation of having slept, but you're still feeling rested. Sitting up, you can see that the building around you is in ruins. Dust and dirt dominate your environment. Around you, there are familiar people - some of them you've been with up until now, some of them you have been brutally forced to part with weeks ago. They all look alright, a little confusion aside.
From a corner of the room, you can hear the soft whirring of a machine. Upon examination, you can see that it's 3D-printing more gelatinous bodies like you've seen earlier today. Every body that is dispensed from the machine is a safe haven for another mind from the simulation, another mind to join your ranks as real people.
After you've adjusted to the new situation and left the lodge, you find yourself greeted with perfect sunshine. There's a town welcoming you, friendly and peaceful. Though it is more modern than what you are used to, there is no mistaking it.
Cartesio, Nevada, welcomes you.
You're new people, in a new world. Every chance it has to offer is open for you.

I guess I should probably get Hermes, too...
[How does that even work, though.]
no subject
[but he'll gesture to the list of print jobs and hey Hermes is on there??
Along with....]
... Looks like Hermes and Shiro are both on here.
[But that's complicated so....]
What're we doing about the quantum computer.

[But also she's been fine with taking out Sarge from the start.]
no subject
We can take it out together.
[It's like he said at the meeting. Clone or not, he's still not going to risk the paladins. Not going to risk this technology developing further to a point where it's more than copying just minds.]

You gonna test out a new power?
no subject
No. But we should also do this from a distance if we're going to destroy it.
[This bullet was meant for Sarge, after all.]
no subject
Fair enough.
[He'll put the bayard away, moving back.]
You take your shot. I'll burn it down.
no subject
With good reason.
It's enough to knock her backwards and onto the ground, and when the bullet connects, it explodes. They're far enough away to avoid shrapnel, but it's also probably overkill.]

A moment later, whatever's left of the quantum computer will be going up in flames for good measure.]
no subject
Guess that's mission complete.

Take a look?]

END
I don't know if you have destroyed the computer by now or not. If you haven't, I hope this message changes your mind. Take it as my last message...and a warning.
This simulation was to corrupt you all, but I was the one corrupted first. That's how it all started. The problem is that this kind of damage isn't done easily. I have no doubts the arrival into a new world damaged the quantum computer, contributing to the unstability of the simulation, but the problems go deeper than that.
I have very good reasons to believe I was tampered with. Not only myself, but also the computer. Sergei's journal informs the real purpose of the computer, but absolutely everything I know contradicts it, and if there's someone whose words I trust, is Sergei's. That's why I listened to the orders I had. I thought it was his orders.
This doesn't happen for no reason. I fear there's a reason why someone would corrupt myself and the computer like this. What's more, I may have been stabilized, but it won't last forever. It'll be for a day, at most. Once that's over, I'll go back to my former state. Some of my thoughts and feelings were corrupted too, you know. I'm pretty sure once I revert to my corrupted state, I'll try to get a new group of minds.
That's why I ask you to destroy the quantum computer. It contains the simulation, and also myself. It also has the videos and recordings of everything that happened during all this time. Don't worry, I saved all the minds in a disc, to await for the printer to finish the bodies. Even the animals are there, their bodies will be made once everyone humanoid is out.
Check the upper floors. There may be something there that could help go back to your world.
[There isn't. The upper floors have nothing that could be of use]
If there's nothing, then...I'm afraid I don't know what can be done. Maybe it's with my friends. According to the orders I have in me, they're away, and one of them is dealing with a group too -- not in a simulation, but in the real world. I don't know what's his objective.
Sakura, I know you're already gathering determination to go search for them. Stop that. While I'm sure they're somewhere in this world, it's unlikely you're going to stumble upon them.
That aside, I'm pretty sure he's going to be much more successful than I am at whatever's the objective of his group. My friend is not like me. He's ruthless, and unlike me, he won't let anyone approach him or try to befriend him. You wouldn't want that, anyway. Trust me, I spent months exploring the simulation with that guy once. He's not friend material. We were 'friends' because there wasn't really anyone else at the time.
...when facing you all at once I kept thinking about what attitude he'd have. I don't think I nailed it. My point is that he isn't someone you talk with.
If none of this deters you from seeking him, then good luck. Don't die. It won't be hard to hear about him, there's no way there's more than one of him in this world. If you ever see him you'll know it's him.
It's because...
...um...
...it's because he's a rabbit.
Good luck with your new lives. You have the chance to define how they'll be like. Don't waste your chance.

[He'll sit on the ground beside her, watching the fire burning away their lives for the past two months. His expression's not nearly as pleased as hers though. He breathes out deeply.]
Know what you're doing now?
[Because he.. suddenly sure as fuck doesn't.]
no subject
It's a whole new world to explore.
no subject
[Why'd he bother asking there was zero mystery here.]

[A beat.]
Now that we're out of the simulation, I should be able to call Black here, but....
[Somewhere out there in deep space, the other version of him and all the paladins are fighting a war and they need all of the Voltron lions with them. He doesn't have a place in that world the way he thought he did.]
It's complicated now.

Guess I still don't know how to feel about being a clone.
no subject
[Even Kino has to admit that. Somewhere, out there, there's another Kino who's continuing on her travels without any knowledge whatsoever that she's even been cloned.]
But... you're already pretty different.
no subject
How do you figure that?
no subject
[Just for starters.]
