The Sergeant's deadline is tonight. An offer to get in contact with people you know, yet also a threat. Given how fed up he was, it's unlikely he's joking about the kind of cruelty he's willing to go through for the sake of getting what he wants.
That's why it may not be so surprising that, early in Friday morning, there's this air of tension, despite the bright sun in the sky. It doesn't help that a firetruck and a couple patrolcars race through the streets, passing in front of the motel and going west. The reason why is clear after a single glance:
There's a thick column of black smoke emanating from somewhere inside the Junkyard.
[Osomatsu books it back to the motel, letting the rest of the people investigate the junkyard. he kind of wants to curl up and just hide. but he might as well look around here. he'll start with the lobby. anything out of place here?]
[Nope, looks like everything in the lobby is in order. If there's anything wrong in this motel, it's bound to be in a different public part of it. Lounge, storage room, laundry room?]
[There doesn't seem to be anything unusual about the Lounge, other than maybe the fact there's no newspaper yet, and that's largely irrelevant. Looks like nobody has come to the lounge today]
[figures. whoever was involved is probably more sneaky about what they were doing. maybe something will stick out in the storage room? he races there quickly, already having a plan in his head on where he wants to go]
[not incredibly familiar, but he's checked it out a couple of times. he's mostly looking to see if it's a mess, if there's anything missing on the cabinets, and such]
[It's enough of a mess to be noticeable, that's for sure. Everything is moved, almost nothing is orderly in the cabinets. Worth noting there's all kind of items in this storage: supplies for the motel like bedsheets, paper, matches, duct tape, and many other items]
[okay, yeah, it definitely doesn't look like how he last saw this room. he's been in here to get paper before! he inspects the cabinets, looking in particular at anything that could start a fire. what about those matches? or anything liquid or flammable spilling out from somewhere?]
[Nothing is spilling, nor there are any flammable items in this storage. That wouldn't be safe in a living space!
It's also impossible to know what exactly was taken. There's quite a lot of matches here. Taking a box sure would be unnoticeable -- and that goes for all the other items in this storage, too]
[hmmm... everything was moved, but that doesn't help him, unless something big was missing. all he can think of now is looking to see if there's a checklist that could show quantities of each item. that would tell if something was missing, right? he doesn't know for sure, though.
[No checklist, unfortunately. Looks like all you have is the certainty someone rooted through here.
The walls have nothing, and the floor have more signs someone looked around for stuff -- there are a few random objects on the floor near the cabinets. Nothing that stands out, just stuff that once was in their rightful places, fell down, and didn't get picked up]
[he'll tuck the information away for later. it may be nothing, but... at least he has something to talk about whenever the Sergeant calls for him. ollies out!]
