Week 3 - Trial

Week 3: Trial

April 20th. It was now time for the trial.

When everyone arrives at the trial room, the tribunes are already filled with townspeople. Compared to last week, there's less morbid curiosity and more quiet outrage. Everyone's glaring at the visitors while they enter the courtroom.

The number of podiums draped in black has increased dramatically. Nine's, Mako's, Sandalphon's, and Bakugou's have joined Moloch's, raising the number to five. That's one sixth of the available podiums. How many more will be covered in black velvet before these two months end?

Once everyone is at the right podium, the Sergeant bangs his gavel. He doesn't seem to be in better mood than before.
"Today the victim is Katsuki Bakugou. Solve it."

Without even bothering to taunt or be as antagonistic as usual, he waves the gavel. Five small photos appear on the podiums.

"When it's time, you shall cast your vote. Write it on paper or put the photo inside the slot, I don't really care about how you do it. What matters is that you actually do it. Start your discussion."

The trial room went completely silent, all the visitors can feel the attentive stares of the townspeople gathered to watch. It's up to them now to find the culprit.

Let the trial begin.

Well, Bakugou-san's mouth... [but she just kind of trails off cause it's not like she looked at the pulp that closely.]
unfashionably: (a sad sting)

[personal profile] unfashionably 2018-10-20 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
... I'm sorry. I know it's hard to hear, but it sounds like that's from being drowned.
pecker: (glancing behind uncertainly)

[personal profile] pecker 2018-10-20 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
O-Oh. I see...

[She considers this for a few moments.]

But don't you think he needed to be incapacitated somehow before that could happen? I mean, it's obvious how hard he was fighting with all the burned and destroyed things. To drown him the killer had to drag him to that spot and also hold him down. Maybe they chose water because of all the fire, but that can't have been easy in the first place.
relieable: (seriously they took my wallet)

He might’ve been stabbed first and startled, ‘cause he had a wound on his chest.
pecker: (cluck cluck motherfucker)

[personal profile] pecker 2018-10-20 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Then why didn't they just stab him again??

[THIS CASE IS CONVOLUTED. Also she's only half paying attention.]
unfashionably: (a side-eye sting)

[personal profile] unfashionably 2018-10-20 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that's close. He had a head injury, right? It could've knocked him out long enough to drown him. [ Or... hm. ] Actually, how deep was that thing?
silvertongueheir: (I had in store)

[personal profile] silvertongueheir 2018-10-20 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Deep enough to completely submerge his body, at the very least.
relieable: (but what if i don't want to share)

[personal profile] relieable 2018-10-20 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
So someone could’ve stabbed him, and he fell back and hit his head. If he was knocked out right there, the killer wouldn’t’ve had to use any force in drowning him.
unfashionably: talking, serious (you take things so hard)

[personal profile] unfashionably 2018-10-20 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
So I guess it could be true, but maybe not. [ To say or not, to say or not... ] But maybe he couldn't fight because he was weighed down with something.

Or, by someone. Doesn't the guestbook say Olympia is 340lbs? That and super strength wouldn't be easy to fight against, especially underwater.

She could probably make a hell of a footprint. Or press something down pretty hard.

[thinkin bout that MUD]
unfashionably: (this is temporary)

[personal profile] unfashionably 2018-10-20 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but so could heels.
silvertongueheir: (What kind of ride)

[personal profile] silvertongueheir 2018-10-20 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't see any water splashed out, but I don't know if that's because there wasn't a fight in the water or because the water dried. Although it does seem more likely he was already knocked out and there would be no need to weigh him down.
unfashionably: attention grabbed, looking over, huh (it's why you won't fit inside)

[personal profile] unfashionably 2018-10-20 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah? [ Thinkin' about that. ] Then that might be wrong. If something that heavy really did get submerged, even partly, chances are the water would have overflowed.
silvertongueheir: (I had in store)

[personal profile] silvertongueheir 2018-10-20 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[He nods.] There's plenty of other possible causes for those marks in the ground.

And we haven't figured out what made the wound in his chest yet. Maybe we should start thinking about that soon.
