Week 3: Trial

April 20th. It was now time for the trial.

When everyone arrives at the trial room, the tribunes are already filled with townspeople. Compared to last week, there's less morbid curiosity and more quiet outrage. Everyone's glaring at the visitors while they enter the courtroom.

The number of podiums draped in black has increased dramatically. Nine's, Mako's, Sandalphon's, and Bakugou's have joined Moloch's, raising the number to five. That's one sixth of the available podiums. How many more will be covered in black velvet before these two months end?

Once everyone is at the right podium, the Sergeant bangs his gavel. He doesn't seem to be in better mood than before.

"Today the victim is Katsuki Bakugou. Solve it."

Without even bothering to taunt or be as antagonistic as usual, he waves the gavel. Five small photos appear on the podiums.

            

"When it's time, you shall cast your vote. Write it on paper or put the photo inside the slot, I don't really care about how you do it. What matters is that you actually do it. Start your discussion."

The trial room went completely silent, all the visitors can feel the attentive stares of the townspeople gathered to watch. It's up to them now to find the culprit.

Let the trial begin.

HAND CHECK

[still, he doesn’t think kids should be involved. poor Kino]

O-okay, uh. Suspe....cts...? We’re gonna do a hand check! Please show them to me!

[ When asked, he holds out his hands! He's wearing long gloves, which are completely undamaged and clean. ]

[gloves can hide a lot, right? Osomatsu checks those first, paying attention for any discoloration. then he gives Sting a nervous smile] Can ya take ‘em off? [or are they like your bad fashion shoes]

[unfashionably]

[ Nope, no discoloration. They really are clean, and, yes, they are not like bad fashion pants. They can come off! ] Sure.

[ He's a little confused but he's doing it anyway. He kinda just... slides them down his arms and pulls them off? They're really long gloves, they cover basically his whole arm sans shoulder. Once they're off, he holds up his hands.

Clean! No mud and nothing under the nails. ]

[HMMMM! Osomatsu inspects thouroughly, then gives Sting a thumbs up] All clear.

[unfashionably]

Thanks for checkin'. [ And now he slips his gloves back while watching the other checks. ]

[+1 to the wearing gloves party. Wayne's got surprisingly nice, fingerlings leather ones. But he's clean, his nails are clipped to short for dirt to get stuck under them.]

...I don't like where this is going...

[Osomatsu will inspect those fingers, since they’re visible. but what about the rest of his hand?]

Gloves off, too, man. [WHY DON’T YOU LIKE WHERE THIS IS GOING]

Right. [And they're off. There's a whole lot of nothing. Well not nothing, his hands and knuckles are completely covered in scars, but they've already healed.]

[And then this happens. And Wayne let's out the huffest sigh possible.]

I fucking knew it, this shit again...

[snideper]

[She'll take off one of her arm guards (she's still wearing them despite the fact that they woulDN'T LET HER COME IN WITH HER BOW!!) and lets Osomatsu inspect her hand and the arm guard (but if he tries to touch either there will be Problems), then puts it back on before repeating the process with the other. Not exactly clean because she's a gremlin but nothing notably wrong.]

[don’t worry! there’s no touching! he examines both hands carefully]

[She just sort of huffs in acknowledgement before strapping her arm guard back on. Osomatsu is lucky they bonded over dick drawings so she didn't have to be completely insufferable about this.]

[Olympia's not moving again.]

I'd rather Millium looked.

[relieable]

I mean... That’s fine. Whatever you’re most comfortable with. [he looks over at Millium] Milli-chan?

[doublelammy]

Coming!

[And she comes right over.]

All right, let's get this over with.

[I have no convenient picture this time, but we can probably guess that, upon closer examination, those "weird gauntlets" she's been "wearing" everywhere are actually just her mechanical hands. There's no sign of injuries/damage, and she doesn't even have fingernails.]

[And no conveniently citrus-y and/or explosion-y smells? Because you better believe she's still on this.]

[Nope! There's not even the ash-y smell this time. She was careful about picking up her evidence, apparently.]

Clean, doesn't smell like anything.

[hm, well that was a bust. good thing they’re doing the strip search now...

or they can all just argue, that’s cool]
