Week 3 - Trial

Week 3: Trial

April 20th. It was now time for the trial.

When everyone arrives at the trial room, the tribunes are already filled with townspeople. Compared to last week, there's less morbid curiosity and more quiet outrage. Everyone's glaring at the visitors while they enter the courtroom.

The number of podiums draped in black has increased dramatically. Nine's, Mako's, Sandalphon's, and Bakugou's have joined Moloch's, raising the number to five. That's one sixth of the available podiums. How many more will be covered in black velvet before these two months end?

Once everyone is at the right podium, the Sergeant bangs his gavel. He doesn't seem to be in better mood than before.
"Today the victim is Katsuki Bakugou. Solve it."

Without even bothering to taunt or be as antagonistic as usual, he waves the gavel. Five small photos appear on the podiums.

"When it's time, you shall cast your vote. Write it on paper or put the photo inside the slot, I don't really care about how you do it. What matters is that you actually do it. Start your discussion."

The trial room went completely silent, all the visitors can feel the attentive stares of the townspeople gathered to watch. It's up to them now to find the culprit.

Let the trial begin.

Lights on, lights off, and if you're speedy enough to get out of the way, you're speedy enough to get up in the kid's business and out of it again. Combat experience with superhuman speed must make for a hell of a combination.

Except Bakugou could just set off explosions directly around himself to act as defense. Sting wouldn't want to run headfirst into an explosion like that, but if the preference was attacking at a distance, like you, that defense wouldn't matter.

Maybe he could, but did he? That place was a wreck from top to bottom. I'm thinking about what I would do if I could go so fast; if he's firing an explosion in one direction, that's your chance to catch him off-guard, if you leave yourself with enough room to get the hell out once you strike.

What's your interest in defending this guy, anyway? You haven't gotten off my ass for a minute.

Considering it was so destroyed it'd be hard to say he did or didn't. You're forgetting the fact that the kid is pretty damn expert in hand to hand--there would have been an injury on the attacker if they managed to get close to him and no one has any injuries. That leaves people who are agile and attack from a distance. Like you, Clarisse.

That's leaving out that Sting doesn't think like you do; even if he could react like you think you would with his powers, doesn't mean that's how his powers actually work or how he'd think to use 'em.
