Week 3 - Trial

Week 3: Trial

April 20th. It was now time for the trial.

When everyone arrives at the trial room, the tribunes are already filled with townspeople. Compared to last week, there's less morbid curiosity and more quiet outrage. Everyone's glaring at the visitors while they enter the courtroom.

The number of podiums draped in black has increased dramatically. Nine's, Mako's, Sandalphon's, and Bakugou's have joined Moloch's, raising the number to five. That's one sixth of the available podiums. How many more will be covered in black velvet before these two months end?

Once everyone is at the right podium, the Sergeant bangs his gavel. He doesn't seem to be in better mood than before.
"Today the victim is Katsuki Bakugou. Solve it."

Without even bothering to taunt or be as antagonistic as usual, he waves the gavel. Five small photos appear on the podiums.

"When it's time, you shall cast your vote. Write it on paper or put the photo inside the slot, I don't really care about how you do it. What matters is that you actually do it. Start your discussion."

The trial room went completely silent, all the visitors can feel the attentive stares of the townspeople gathered to watch. It's up to them now to find the culprit.

Let the trial begin.

The pulp from the orange was found, though. Hmm...do oranges have any valuable properties to them? Such as how lemon juice can be used as a cleaning agent.

They have a lot of Vitamin C!

[ Wrong kind of valuable property.... ]
prayerwheel: (♪ although it seems impossible now)

[ ............... ]

Unless our culprit was suffering from scurvy behind our backs, I don't think that was the intended use.

[Just give him a moment to snort at that...]

Maybe it was the kid's? He coulda been eating it when he was attacked and dropped it later.
prayerwheel: (♪ it's all a lie)

But the peel was in the junkyard...if it had been something Bakugou was eating, he'd either have to have been in the junkyard at some point, or the culprit deposited just the peel there, and not the rest of the orange.

[ is this going to be citrusgate 2: son of lemongate ]

Ah... So they could have dropped it?

...if that is the reason, then I believe that proves my innocence.

[This is not a dismissal.]

[personal profile] integratedsoul 2018-10-20 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, right, that reminds me... do you eat generally?

[ She's not sure if she's ever seen her do it, but that's also not the kind of thing that's worth paying attention to normally. ]

I have the ability to convert food into energy, though I do not eat three meals every day like a human.
streetwolf: (1)

[personal profile] streetwolf 2018-10-20 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
How exactly does that work?

[Is it like gasoline?]
carbide: (B01F. A glorious journey's start)

[personal profile] carbide 2018-10-20 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Efficiently.

[listen there is an upper limit to how much bullshit science I am willing to make up on the spur of the moment for y'all to latch onto]
streetwolf: (1947 Manga - I can help too)

[personal profile] streetwolf 2018-10-20 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
So like, you wouldn't just have a lump of half eaten orange right?
carbide: (B02F. Marshlands of misfortune)

[personal profile] carbide 2018-10-20 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Correct.

[Olympia, president of the Clean Plate Club.]
integratedsoul: (and began to)

[personal profile] integratedsoul 2018-10-20 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
So you really wouldn't be snacking oranges... that's good to know.

[ The smile Cian gives makes pretty clear her suspicion of Olympia dropped exponentially. ]

I also have no sense of taste, so if I was, I would not have left the peel behind.

[god, humans waste so much food because it "tastes bad" or "has no nutritional value" or "is poisonous"]

[personal profile] clearities 2018-10-20 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Um... you can use the orange as a citrus cleaner, I think, but you need something else besides just the orange for it.
prayerwheel: (♪ keep the world without)

[personal profile] prayerwheel 2018-10-20 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[ a long, long, long fucking pause because she can't believe she's actually suggesting this but she's racking her brain for any explanation possible ]

...can one make an explosive substance out of oranges?

[personal profile] saladandeggs 2018-10-20 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
...as a healthy snack, largely.
