Week 4 - Trial

Week 4: Trial

It's dawn when the Sergeant calls everyone to the courtroom. Despite the early hour, the tribunes of the room are as full as the last two times, sleepy townspeople glaring and looking at the visitors with distrust. The Sergeant told everyone to get to their spots. Anyone who looks behind them, will see the bailiffs carrying Sting Eucliffe away, who is trying to resist them but doesn't seem to have enough strength to do that well.
"Don't worry about him. That guy ate a lot of ice and frost for reasons I don't understand, and now he has a very bad cold. I don't want him making everyone in this room sick, so he's excused. No, that's not a hint all of you should get sick to avoid these trials."

There are more podiums draped in black now. Clarisse, Eric Lecarde, and Jughead Jones have joined the dead, and their podiums look lonely without their occupants.

With a twirl of the gavel, the Sergeant recites:
"Today the trial will focus on solving the murder of..."

He takes a PDA out of his pocket, and holds it in the air. The PDA's text-to-voice software says: 'Forsythe'
"...Pendleton Jones the Third. The circumstances need no introduction, we all are aware of them. Here are your suspects"

Once everyone had a moment to see the faces in the photos, the Sergeant adds:
"By the way, there are two separate culprits today. Yes, two of these five people directly caused Jughead's death. When it's time to vote, remember to vote for two different people."

Let the trial begin.

So culprit 1 poisoned the burger you found with two different drugs and culprit 2 just happened to be walking by and decided to shoot him three times. That what you're thinking?

Well. They never mentioned whether or not the assailants were...aware of each other.

If they weren't that would mean two people independently decided to rail on Jughead at more or less the same time. Guy had a bad habit of sassing people, but hard to think he was that disliked.

But he was a rather prominent target. Getting into the mindset of a killer, perhaps, but wouldn’t hosting the...affairs that night make him more visible?
marmoron: by request of the icon creator, pls do not take (appraising)

I don't know about that. Getting into the mindset of a killer, I'd want a target that was more inconspicuous. Someone who didn't have all eyes on them this week. Jughead was a fairly risky target to try and kill this week. Arguably stupid.

I wouldn’t call it stupid. Well, it’s murder so it is, but...you get the idea. I’m more concerned about the overkill, mind you. The poison by itself seems obvious, but...shooting the boy?

[personal profile] marmoron 2018-10-27 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Might've been out of pity. I don't know how much pain those poisons cost, but his face wasn't... particularly peaceful looking.

If it had been out of pity, then a shot to the head would've been enough. He practically drowned in his own blood.

[ he looks troubled while saying that, considering the fact that he doesn't like this at all but...it's true. ]
marmoron: (more resting bitchface)

[personal profile] marmoron 2018-10-27 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Headshots are harder to hit. We're talking about an inexperienced shooter here.

[personal profile] odasaku 2018-10-27 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Sort of. Culprit 1 poisoned the burger and, to hide the poison, culprit 2 shot him multiple times because that would make a bigger scene than someone choking backstage. [ he shrugs. it’s not like he’s very smart about this. ]

[personal profile] robitussin 2018-10-27 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Why would they want to make a bigger scene, though?
odasaku: (22)

[personal profile] odasaku 2018-10-27 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Because it would be easier for them to get away while doing their...handstand.

[ he still has a hard time believing that someone just walked away on their hands but apparently that's what's happening ]
robitussin: (pic#12583035)

[personal profile] robitussin 2018-10-27 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Would it?

I mean... We were all pretty close to the crime scene. We were able to get there quick, because we heard the gunshots. Especially if they walked off on their hands, wouldn't they risk someone getting there in time to see them?
odasaku: (65)

[personal profile] odasaku 2018-10-27 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess I get what you mean. It would've been easier for them to escape if they had let Jughead die from the poison alone.
marmoron: marmoron (side eye)

[personal profile] marmoron 2018-10-27 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
We're sure that wasn't Jughead's handprint?

[Just making sure because the idea of the culprit handstanding to their escape just sounds... really dumb to Keith here.]
odasaku: (18)

[personal profile] odasaku 2018-10-27 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know. Where they headed to or from the park? [ he will look at franciscus? he's the handprint guy. ]

[Just confirming, it was towards the park?]

Indeed they were. Unless Jughead was concealing the ability to walk backwards steadily on his hands.
