Just like last week, the pile of votes appear in front of the Sergeant, who counts them with practiced ease. He stands up as soon as he's done, pausing for only a moment, before making his announcement.

I don't really like to kill. But killing a few more doesn't change things too much for me.

Ah-- killing or not killing, it doesn't matter one way or the other. I simply chose a life that saves people because... someone told me that it was "slightly more beautiful".

Someone like me-- this is nothing.

Oh it's a terrible trait, but perhaps not. Who can say.

Rather... I think there's probably a lot of people who choose who dies and who lives on whims like that, too.

[This isn't too much of a surprise. Because...]

There are a lot of terrible people in the world.

[And Kino's one of them.]

But if someone terrible like me can devote my life to saving people— I have faith that this group can overcome these trials.

I don't know if there was any doubt about us overcoming them, either.

[They're doing pretty well so far, anyway.]
