WEEK 0 — MARCH 29, 30

Week 0

You have been threatened by the Sergeant: if nobody dies before March 31st at noon, you, along with everyone else, will forfeit your lives. The Sergeant pushed everyone away from the Lodge, judging that had been enough interaction with his guests. So what now?

Will you submit to the Sergeant’s demands? Will you resist him and wait to see what happens? He wouldn’t be capable of killing you and everyone else, right?

Only time will tell.

The next day you'll find a newspaper at the motel lounge, telling you about today’s weather forecast with 100% accuracy. Looks like you can expect to find a newspaper every day to find out the weather and any other news about the town. It even includes something branded 'THE SHARK ALERT'. Who could that be directed to?

There's also a copy of yesterday's newspaper. There's nothing about the Sergeant or about your predicament, but there is something about your arrival to the town.

Cartesio is your world for the next four days, better make the most out of your time here.

OOC Note: The current IC:OOC ratio for the days is as follows: The 29th top-level covers Monday and Tuesday, while the 30th top-level is for Wednesday and Thursday.

Some of us found some sort of liquid that left a long trail around the motel and the park. It looked as though that was meant to be set on fire.

In other words, this was all very much intentional, as far as I can tell.

Arson, then?

[ he sighs, crossing his arms to think. ]

Did anyone notice anything off in the burnt area?

[Whose this?

He doesn't know the name or the writing, but he goes anyway. Hands in his pockets and hood up and...Smelling like he hasn't washed at all since the fire. He smells of smoke. But he recognizes the girl, so there's that.]

You Sakura?

Where I'm from we don't specifically make people for anything, though I suppose they can be trained to only be useful [ for ] at one thing.

If you're hungry then those bastards are paying, might as well run up a big bill for them.

[He's not really paying attention. Eyes closed and smirking away.]

Gasoline? What'd it smell of? It is oil fires that react badly to water right?

I'm just passing through...

[He shrugs, it's the lobby. He can do what he likes. Cringing at the whisky and the smoke, and not even reacting to gaze.]

...No wonder to look like you're gonna keel over all the time using that shit.

My guess is it was an electrical fire, if water didn't work.

Normal people aren't, either. But I wouldn't call the Intelligence Division normal.

And what's that?

I did. There were wires in the streets. The fire seems to have melted them-- they're useless now.

...It's possible that the wires contributed to, or even caused the fire, which was then spread by the liquid she mentioned...

[ Alfin shakes her head. ]

But I don't know for sure.

My... um.

[She pauses, considering it for a minute.]

My job, I guess? That doesn't really sound right, but it's the best I've got.

[londonstar]

[ waver clicks his tongue. he's not happy! ]

The whiskey's for this "special occasion". [ he even does air quotes ] I've always loathed the smell of alcohol. Tastes like shite.

[ oh, this looks interesting, so he definitely follows serph. ]

You know, you don't have to pick just one flavor. Despite what some may say.

[ lookin' at you axel. he's treating this lightly, but his eyes are hooded and serious. ]

[It takes a moment for the call to go through. Only when the call goes through a word appears on the screen:

'HOME'

Well that could have been a bit more subtle, but hey, maybe it'll go well. Still, it's a bit too late to turn back. A confused voice sounds through the speaker[

Who's calling? How are you even in my office in the first place? I'm calling the police!

[Looks like you won't get many chances for questions. Ask a question carefully, you may get something useful about the setting or the game!]

[ Cool beans -- time to grab the "regain" as well as the safe and see what's going on with the other crew before they leave.

Once when said other crew is also done with their other stuff, as a general note, this mysterious soldier is going to start to set things on fire and SKEDADDALE. ]

Clearly, but I mean what is it? Why does it exist? ... Though we're getting a little ahead of ourselves if you're telling me about your job before your name.

[Millium offers him her usual bright smile.]

Didn't get enough burning today, huh? [She motions to the cigarette.]

[As soon as the safe's lifted from the spot, an alarm starts blaring everywhere. Looks like someone kept some information for themselves -- thanks a lot for destroying the company he works at, guys. Not going to enjoy unemployment. A heavy steel door slams on the entrance, sealing it. Those outside the office are locked in a building that can only be opened from the outside, those inside the office are trapped there with no exit.

At least no way to exit through the door. That only leaves one exit option, doesn't it?]

[This little soldier hears voices. While they don't have anything to ask, they are listening.

Any intel is good intel.]

I'm Seiji Matoba. No need to be embarrassed; this meeting's been interesting. It sounds like your empire is at war - or at the very least, has many enemies.

[ cupping his chin, waver thinks about what those cables could be. unable to come to a conclusion, he decides to keep questioning. ]

Underground wiring is popular when it comes to servicing electricity to homes. The only issue is that, should there be a short circuit or some other kind of damage, the costs and difficulty of fixing it become higher.

[ reaching into his suit pocket, he takes out two things: a pen and a map. the map is spread out on one of the tables, placing the pen next to it ]

Is anyone capable of drawing out the perimeter of the liquid trail and/or fire?

What's it with old guys and getting pissed up when something happens? Geez...
