Week 7: May 13th - May 17th

Seventh Week
The tense truce that had covered Cartesio was over. The town, feeling betrayed after having given a chance to the outsiders, pushed back. Enraged, they started getting even more daring, starting to get into the tourists' only safe haven: their motel rooms. They don't manage to break in, but it's not unusual to hear thumping on the doors, someone trying to get in. The windows are almost perpetually broken, there's so much graffiti on the ground floor of the motel, both inside and outside, it's hard to know what each one is saying. Can't be anything good, that's the only thing that's certain. The lounge's furniture has been tore to pieces, the lobby only has the guestbook intact, and the planters in middle of the motel are broken, the soil and plants strewn around.
The residents of Cartesio are near their breaking point. The despair, fury, and desire to get rid of the outsiders so everyone can return to their peaceful lives, have covered the town. It won't take long before they reach their breaking point, and if they do...what will happen to the visitors?
The Sergeant's grip on the town is total, and next week is the one marked as END. It seems like there's no way out, like the Sergeant won.
But you can't lose hope. You have to remember: now that you're on your darkest hour, the only way lef to go is upwards. Things can get better, you have to make it happen!
In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again. Don't mind that some of them have been damaged in one of the attacks on the motel.

meetinggggg
I have a lot this time, so... You know, sorry that this is going to take a while.
[She opens up her notebook and goes over everything Dabi told her when they met just days ago in the jail. She adds a description of the video tape she found in his room and what it revealed. After that, though... Out of her pockets come a hard disk and a small, square device.]
This [she holds up the disk] is a copy of all the data the police have gathered against us. Video evidence, testimonies, photos... Most everything is on here. I put it in a computer myself and looked over it all, so I can confirm that it's all in here. This [she holds up the square device] is something the Sergeant wants put on one of the machines in the refinery. According to him, putting it there will allow him to control the flow of oil throughout the facility. He's told me that if that happens, for whatever reason, the blame for everything that's happened so far will shift from all of us to him, and he's promised that doing this won't disrupt the celebration the townspeople have planned. He told me it won't cause any injuries or fatalities, either. But... Putting it on the machine would still play into his plans, basically. I don’t know why he wants to take the blame, but here we are.
[She holds up both items for another moment before lowering her hands.]
...I thought this was important enough to get some input on. What to do with each of them, I mean. Also, if anybody else has something new they’ve learned, go for it.

Also I checked up on Rean-san, too. He's okay, but I wasn't able to talk to him since he was really busy.

But... should we trust him, about what he said about it not disrupting the celebration?
no subject
[Ah.]
But... I’m like 75% sure he hasn’t lied to me yet.

[After a moment:]
Look, even if I don't think he is, it'd be stupid to ignore the possibility that he's just giving us bullshit.

...
[he's silent the whole time, considering at least trying to talk to Sarge at some point, then he raises his head]
I dunno if we should really do what he wants. It could be a trap.

[She sets down a piece of paper with the indentations copied and the lines between them drawn out.]
In my original message to them, I told them that the Sergeant might have a plan for the dead, both townspeople and tourists. He's doing something to make the bodies "go away" and he told me his plans are not my concern when I asked.
Besides that, he has some kind of relationship with his boss that forced him into this role. It didn't even seem to occur to him that he was pressed into it until I asked. He said we have more choice than him because we can actually leave this place - he has to stay. He also implied there wouldn't be a reason for this if they could just return, but he claimed up again.
[Whew. Okay.]
As for the device... we should weigh our options. Will having the townspeople on our side be useful if we decide to go against the Sergeant, to make up for whatever extra control he gains over the refinery?

hm. ]
I think it might be nice to have the others on our side, but I'm worried about the people working at the refinery if he does get control of it...
[ even if Natalie said that the Sergeant told her that they won't get hurt -- at least not physically -- she's still concerned about the emotional part of it. ]
And I don't know if letting him further his plans would be good, especially if it might deal with everyone that's died so far.

He told me that they'd start blaming him. That doesn't necessarily mean that they'll be on our side.

[She blinks, then realizes.]
Oh, no. This isn't, like, plant this device on the machine and you can keep all the evidence. We can decide what to do with both.

The Sergeant was messing with us. Shrinking engines, deflating tires, turning the GPS off remotely. He's getting brazen about meddling. Don't know if that means he's desperate. There were some closed circuit cameras around the facility that he was probably watching us from.
[But to Natalie's question.]
I'm not going along with what the Sergeant wants to do with the refinery. The people in town can be dealt with. I don't know if we can deal with whatever it is that the Sergeant's going to get out of us doing what he wants.
[A beat.]
Speaking of which, we need to come to an agreement on what it is we're going to do about this festival that he's most likely goig to ask us to disrupt.
