Week 7: May 13th - May 17th

Seventh Week

The tense truce that had covered Cartesio was over. The town, feeling betrayed after having given a chance to the outsiders, pushed back. Enraged, they started getting even more daring, starting to get into the tourists' only safe haven: their motel rooms. They don't manage to break in, but it's not unusual to hear thumping on the doors, someone trying to get in. The windows are almost perpetually broken, there's so much graffiti on the ground floor of the motel, both inside and outside, it's hard to know what each one is saying. Can't be anything good, that's the only thing that's certain. The lounge's furniture has been tore to pieces, the lobby only has the guestbook intact, and the planters in middle of the motel are broken, the soil and plants strewn around.

The residents of Cartesio are near their breaking point. The despair, fury, and desire to get rid of the outsiders so everyone can return to their peaceful lives, have covered the town. It won't take long before they reach their breaking point, and if they do...what will happen to the visitors?

The Sergeant's grip on the town is total, and next week is the one marked as END. It seems like there's no way out, like the Sergeant won.

But you can't lose hope. You have to remember: now that you're on your darkest hour, the only way lef to go is upwards. Things can get better, you have to make it happen!

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again. Don't mind that some of them have been damaged in one of the attacks on the motel.

[weird how? he tries to think of how to explain]

...I guess he just seemed... not sad, but resigned to his fate. Like he didn't have any fight in 'im. Like, if it was me, I'd be doin' whatever I could to get back at someone who said they would kill me if I didn't do what they wanted.

[clearities]

I think it's kind of sad, though... since Sergeant-san has friends he wants to see again. And he also wants to get his face back, too.

[relieable]

[...a pause]

He told me he didn't have any family. Or, I guess, that his boss was the closest thing to his family? But I didn't know he had friends...

[clearities]

I didn't really tell anyone about them, because I didn't think it was important. [ that, and... she thought it would be rude to. ] But I found out about them many weeks ago. During the third week I was here, so, the second week for everyone else? [ so uh. she's known this for a while, apparently. ]

[relieable]

[that's interesting!]

It's probably important. It means he might have more on the line than he's telling us.

[clearities]

Then maybe, during the next meeting, I'll tell everyone. About this, and... one more thing. Because even if I don't like what the Sergeant-san is doing.

[ her words are honest, kind. ] I want to help him.

[relieable]

[of course she does. Osomatsu looks at her, then reaches over and pats her head. that's okay, right? if she doesn't like it, he'll stop!]

...I'm somehow not surprised in the least. [his smile is fond]

[clearities]

[ she is definitely visibly red at the headpats, but she doesn't actually mind them? they're nice. ] It's not bad, is it? I mean, I know a lot of people are angry at the Sergeant-san, but... [ she doesn't want him dead? she just wants to stop. all of this murder. ]

[relieable]

[Osomatsu is no stranger to giving headpats. so he'll do it for a little while longer, then pull his hand back]

...Yeah. He's done a lot of bad things, but he's not the only one t'blame here, you're right. [plus, if they killed him, they'd be just as bad as he was!]

[clearities]

Yeah. The ones we really need to stop are his superiors... [ who might not even be in this world which is. kind of troublesome. ]

[relieable]

[ah, Sakura...]

I'm not sure we'd even be able to get a hold of them. And, even if we could, they're probably stronger than the Sergeant. Which means, taking them out could be near impossible.

[clearities]

[ there's a rather obvious frown that tugs at the edges of her lips, there. ] It might be near impossible, but. . . there still might be a chance, right? Even if it's small? [ she wants to believe in even the smallest of chances. if it's there, if it exists, then maybe. maybe they can latch onto that. ]

[relieable]

...I suppose there is. [he's an optimist, too] Maybe, if we all worked together, we could give his superiors a run for their money.

[clearities]

Yeah, we definitely should work together. I think if we can do that, we can come up with something!

[relieable]

[a nod]
