Week 7: Trial

When everyone arrives at the trial room, the tribunes are already filled with townspeople. Until now, the public had been so angry, waiting to see what the outsiders would do. Now they're calmer. Not indifferent, just waiting to see what will happen.

There are so few of you left. So few people, surrounded by a town that once hated you, and now don't know what to think. Will this trial change their opinions of you again?

Maybe that doesn't matter. You're here to solve a murder, after all.

"Today the victim is Kinzie Kensington. This may be the last chance any of you get the chance to earn a medal. Let's see if this culprit gets away with it successfully."

You receive your list of suspects. Five small photos appear on the podiums.

            

"When it's time, you shall cast your vote. It has been a while since there was one culprit."

The trial room went completely silent, all the visitors can feel the attentive stares of the townspeople gathered to watch. It's up to them now to find the culprit.

Let the trial begin.

So what were you up to last nigh all the way through the morning Kinzie's body was found?

Me? Just like last time, I was in my room by myself.

So again like last week. Nobody who can confirm that.

Yeah, that's right.

I mean, it's been like that every time every time I was up for one of these things.

[marmoron]

[A nod.]

Who was your hostage again?

[tuffguy]

[ bolin opens his mouth and then coughs really quick before continuing ]

Really good friend from home, Korra.

[marmoron]

She your girlfriend?

[Unnecessary but hey if you're gonna dish it.....]

Odds are it would happen at least once, I guess. But also, you continue to have the worst fucking luck.

Nothing to do with luck, The Sergeant's just out to get us.

[robitussin]

Well, he's stupid.

[Flawless insult.]

[no one's asking Keith questions, really... hmmm]

...When we saw our hostages, you got pretty... intense. [like he was going to cut the Sergeant right then and there] Who was it?

[A straightforward enough answer, right.]

[okay, and...]

Aaaaaand. Is that person someone you'd kill for?

[marmoron]

If I couldn't save him any other way.

[A beat.]

But I didn't kill Kinzie.

[relieable]

[he's not going to press that, because he's saying the same thing. the hostages mean a lot to both of them. still, that's rather telling that he would kill for this person]

Yeah, I don't think you did, either.

[but he doesn't know for sure!]

[marmoron]

But one of us did.

[Another beat.]

Right now based on what Sakura's said about those footprints, it's you me or Bolin.

[relieable]

[he nods, realizing the gravity of the situation]

I dunno what else to look for.

[marmoron]

So do you have any thoughts on what those rocks from the park were doing by Kinzie's body?

[Not that this is particularly subtle, but...]

[uh. he glances at Bolin quickly, before looking back at Keith]

Maybe they were put there to trip her.
