Final Investigation

It's Friday. It's the last day marked in your calendar. Presumably, the few without medals will leave at some point today, and the rest...you're not sure what'll happen to you, but it'll be what the Sergeant wants.

How to defy him when you have so little time left?

Whatever plan you had today, it's guaranteed it won't go like expected. Early in the morning, the ground rumble slightly, and something pops in the sky. Fireworks! One after another, blasts from firework spread through the sky. Many of the residents of Cartesio come to the street, gathering and making all the noise they can.

It's a very radical change of behavior, compared to the once peaceful demeanor they had, and then the hostile behavior showed towards the visitors, but now they're making hubbub and causing disorder. Everyone does it spontaneously, and nobody's approaching the motel at all.

At least none of the townspeople.

Not long after that started, you may hear the noise of horns and whistles from vehicles, right outside the motel. Go take a look?

[There seems to be no changes from last time. The reception area looks as dusty and wrecked as before -- well, more, because after the blast from last time, things are very messy.

Just like last time, on the reception desk there's a computer near the stairwells that lead to other floors]

[Great. So Sarge still hasn't done anything about the decor. He'll head on over to check out what's on this computer then.]

[The computer looks rather beaten up. The lights are turned off, the keyboard is missing almost all its pieces, and the mouse is on the floor, smashed as if something heavy had fallen on it.

But the screen works, and there's something on it.

A flickering, unstable video feed of the very same room you're in, but there are many crucial differences. It doesn't look like something blasted through it, for one. It's just as destroyed and ruinous, but it looks almost exactly like you remember the reception was like when you first entered it a couple weeks ago.

Neither you nor Kino appear on the video feed]

[Frowning at the monitor for a moment. He'll pick the broken mouse up from off the floor, try to move the cursor around and see if that gets him anywhere.]

[The mouse falls apart in Keith's hand. Whatever fell on it made quite a number on the device.

If Keith looks upwards, he'll see a hole on the roof. Possibly some debris fell on the mouse at some point.

This reception area definitely has seen better days]

[...That's so busted up he's almost impressed. He'll note this hole in the roof, give it a bit of a wary look, but then turn his attention back to the computer monitor. Maybe trying to press one of the remaining keys on the keyboard might accomplish something...?]

[It takes a few tries, but the most he can do is rewind the feed.

The image doesn't change at all. Either the feed is busted, or the room doesn't change in a very, very long time. So long he could spend the entire day pressing that button and it still wouldn't change.

Looks like there are no more clues to find in the reception area]

[...So is this proof that Sarge doesn't show up on video or what. He'll ponder this, but then start moving away from the reception area to see what else there is to see. Sword's still in his hand, yep.]
