Week 0: Investigation

The deadline is fast approaching and the one thing that should be on everyone’s minds is, “what’s going to happen now?” Last night there was a strong thunderstorm, and thanks to it the air still feels cold, moist, and even a little murky. Droplets of water cover many surfaces outside, and there are few clouds hanging in the sky. It’s rather fitting weather given, in just a few hours, all of your lives will be claimed. Have you made peace with this seemingly unavoidable outcome?

Whether you have or haven’t, it would appear your musings are doomed to be interrupted. Outside the motel sirens can be heard as a patrol car zooms by. Maybe nothing’s wrong, and maybe it’s something unrelated to everyone’s current situation.

...but, even if it is, how many of you can really sit around and do nothing? The events of the 30th proved how eager to help some of you are—enough so to put even your own lives in danger.

Abruptly, the patrol car makes a sharp turn and disappears out of sight.

[So guess who's still alive?

Sakura's going to be noticing that patrol car but -- let's go ahead and check if anyone's fucked up the diner, first of all.]

[Millium feels off, and her chest hurts just like it did on the night before... well.

There's no use dwelling on that. Sitting here and waiting is helping no one, so out of her room she goes.

Anything interesting immediately outside?]

[Thank goodness nobody fucked up the diner. The employees here greet cheerfully, ready to start making breakfasts.

Looks like everything's in order over here!]

[Then Sakura is getting her breakfast. You can't stop her. She needs food if she wants to find a dead body.

Although after food, she will be heading to the gas station to get some things, so hopefully she doesn't find a dead body there either.]

[alfin]

[ Alfin had been laying in bed when she heard the siren. She curled up in on herself for just a moment. ]

Please, no more fire...

[ She whispered softly to herself before getting up out of bed and leaving her bedroom. She walks through the hallway and down to the lounge. If anyone else is there, she'll ask them: ]

Do you know what that siren was about?

[cartesio]

[The common areas of the motel are okay. The storage is as gloomy as ever, the entrance to the motel still has nobody manning it, and the lounge only has cheap sofas and bowls of snacks.

Looks like everything is okay in the motel]

[ waver is going to be heading towards the gas station in search for the patrol car! anything there? ]

[doublelammy]

[Thank Aidios.

In that case, she's gonna make her way out of the motel, through the park and toward the ice cream parlor.

Because you know how you deal with pesky emotions? You drown them in sugar. That's what you do.

Unless you find something on the way...?]

[No dead body at the gas station either! Maybe today will be a good day, after all!]

[The motel areas are fine. Looking as cheap and average as usual, but fine]

[ Leave it to the detective to follow that car. Whichever way it's headed, that's where Naoto is off to.

So, which way is it headed? ]

[Well Sakura is there, but she's alive and kicking. Other than that, no patrol car in sight over here]

[It doesn't take long to find something unusual when Millium reaches the park. The perimeters is cordoned off with bright yellow ‘POLICE LINE: DO NOT CROSS’ tape. Oddly enough, despite the police going through the effort of closing off the area, no one seems to be around to guard it. Hm!]

[beanstarscream]

[well, fuck.

let's just go to the park until the sergeant tracks him down and kills him he guesses.]

[It went in direction to the park!]

[The park is a popular place today]

[Welp. You know what you do with rules when no one's around to enforce 'em?

You break 'em just like you break everything else.

Into the park she goes. Anything noteworthy?]

[ As most everyone seems to be heading off to look for where the siren went, Alfin decided to head off as well. She'll head to the flower shop. If the owner is there, she'll ask him if he heard the siren. ]

Lady. Good morning.

[ waver feels some relief finding her in the gas station. at least one person he knows is alive... ]

Are you searching for the police car?

[clearities]

I wanted to, but I did need to get some things from the gas station first... I'm a little worried, though.

[Especially since the fire was committed by someone, which possibly means that maybe it was one of them?]

[ Naoto arrives shortly after Millium, and ignores the instructions of the police tape. She starts at the pond, before working her way west. Anything of interest? ]

...the hell...?

[He'd been on his way to the diner, but...oh no. He's here now, too.

Please let this just be something simple. Like a rabid shark.]

[monstrology]

[The police car was definitely curious (and something pretty unfamiliar, JRPG world and all), so wandering after it has led Will here.

Recognizing Millium from the group, he follows.]

"Do not cross", eh? Has something new happened?

[Not that he would be surprised, considering the everything else...]

[The park is quite a large place, it's so large you'd need some time to explore it all.

Thankfully, that won't be necessary. Once Millium enters the park and goes through one of the paths, she'll find something: during the night there was a strong thunderstorm, but it seems it didn't completely wash out the blood on part of a stone path very well. It's faint, but it's there.

A few more bits of dried blood lead towards a cluster of trees not too far away from there]

Dunno. I just came in here to have a look around. Dunno about you, but I don't like the sound of sirens first thing in the morning.
