Week 0: Investigation

The deadline is fast approaching and the one thing that should be on everyone’s minds is, “what’s going to happen now?” Last night there was a strong thunderstorm, and thanks to it the air still feels cold, moist, and even a little murky. Droplets of water cover many surfaces outside, and there are few clouds hanging in the sky. It’s rather fitting weather given, in just a few hours, all of your lives will be claimed. Have you made peace with this seemingly unavoidable outcome?

Whether you have or haven’t, it would appear your musings are doomed to be interrupted. Outside the motel sirens can be heard as a patrol car zooms by. Maybe nothing’s wrong, and maybe it’s something unrelated to everyone’s current situation.

...but, even if it is, how many of you can really sit around and do nothing? The events of the 30th proved how eager to help some of you are—enough so to put even your own lives in danger.

Abruptly, the patrol car makes a sharp turn and disappears out of sight.

[So guess who's still alive?

Sakura's going to be noticing that patrol car but -- let's go ahead and check if anyone's fucked up the diner, first of all.]

[Thank goodness nobody fucked up the diner. The employees here greet cheerfully, ready to start making breakfasts.

Looks like everything's in order over here!]

[clearities]

[Then Sakura is getting her breakfast. You can't stop her. She needs food if she wants to find a dead body.

Although after food, she will be heading to the gas station to get some things, so hopefully she doesn't find a dead body there either.]

[cartesio]

[No dead body at the gas station either! Maybe today will be a good day, after all!]

[londonstar]

Lady. Good morning.

[ waver feels some relief finding her in the gas station. at least one person he knows is alive... ]

Are you searching for the police car?

[clearities]

I wanted to, but I did need to get some things from the gas station first... I'm a little worried, though.

[Especially since the fire was committed by someone, which possibly means that maybe it was one of them?]

[londonstar]

It's understandable. The sound of sirens is never a pleasant sign.

[ he pauses, and looks at the gas station. ]

Do you mind if I accompany you, then, my Lady? I do not believe it's safe to walk alone.

[clearities]

I don't mind!

["It's not safe to walk alone.

Take this."

I guess Waver is the 'this' now in that pair of sentences.]

[londonstar]

[ he'S NOT AN OBJECT TO HIT THINGS WITH, SAKURA ]

Then let's be off.

[ are we going to go to the park len. are we. ]

[clearities]

[are we sure]

[also, yes]

[ it's a bit of a long trip to the park...for waver. his body is weak and by the time they get there he's this close to begging for mercy.

until he sees the police tape.

ah. there's that queasy feeling in his stomach again. ]

Sakura. I need you to listen to me closely. [ he looks at her, his expression absolutely serious. ] Stay here. Please do not go any further than this...because I cannot assure that you'll be able to handle what you might see past there. [ it might be a dead body. it might be two dead bodies. or maybe it's just another arson case. either way, he doesn't want to risk it. ]

Do you understand?

[clearities]

... I can't stay here and do nothing! I- I can't...

[And then that scream happens.]

We have to go! [Sakura is definitely running there. There's no way she can't, not when she hears that.]

[londonstar]

FOR FUCK'S SAKE!

[ now he has to run after sakura? with a possible dead body?! he's not made for this?! christ lets go find the head. ]
