April 1st - Arrival

Arrival
It feels more like waking up from a very restful night, instead of the jarring feeling of waking up in an unknown bed. That feeling may not last long, though, because you're definitely not looking up at any ceiling you're familiar with.
It's some kind of motel room -- maybe cleaner than you'd expect from such a place. There's a comfortable bed, a trunk with a military uniforn and a gas mask and enough space to stash whatever you get during the next two months, a closet with a familiar outfit or two...no other belongings in this room, and certainly no answers as to why you're here.
There's one thing that may bring more questions than answers: a calendar. Today's date is marked there: April 1st. Happy April Fools day? The entirety of April and most of May is empty, but the week from May 21st to May 25th is filled with one word:
END
The moment you step out of your room with AC you're hit by the warm, sticky air of Cartesio. Today is a rather dry day. You're not the only one who seems to be lost -- other people come out of their rooms. At some point, once you get to the lobby, you find a few things of interest: a guestbook, a rack of maps, and a note pinned to the wood of the counter:
"Meet me at the Lodge in two hours -- The Sergeant"
You now have a place to go to in two hours. In the meanwhile, how about you get accustomed to the motel and the town?

[Moloch sighs, seemingly a bit unsettled. People being from different worlds sure isn't a thought that crosses his mind]
Something's wrong and I don't like that at all.
no subject
I wonder if we're even from the same planet.
Hey, hey. Do you know Zemuria?
no subject
[The thought of people from other planets is so stunning it's actually taking him a moment to process that -- and it's not even correct, haha]
no subject
Yeah, exactly.
It's a continent. Unless you're suuuuuper shut-in, I don't think you'd manage to miss an entire continent on your own planet.
no subject
[That'd be huge news, even the prisoners in Castle Heterodyne would have found out. So yeah, unless it spontaneously appeared like five minutes ago, he'd definitely know about it]
Any theories as to what's going on?
no subject
[She pauses, and it's clear she's thinking really hard and trying to remember her history lessons.]
...A really really long time.
[Nailed it.]
So. We're obviously not from the same world. And I dunno for sure, but I get the feeling neither of us are from this world, either.
Dunno if it's different planets, alternate dimensions, branching timelines, or what. [How does she know about all that stuff.] But we sure as heck ain't home anymore.
no subject
[But it was just a theory. Even mad scientists across centuries hadn't achieved that yet, as far as he knew. He looks around]
In that case, we must be millions of parallel dimensions away from mine. There's nothing remotely similar to the world I know.
no subject
But hey. What's your world like?
[She's not too concerned with her own, but while he's here, he may as well indulge her curiosity.]
no subject
[The way he says that is like he expects that to be all the explanation it needs]
no subject
Sounds like fun.
[Apparently, it is, and Millium is interested.]
no subject
[Which can range from something relatively harmless to some truly nightmarish events. Of course, no matter what it is, it's bound to be weird and cool]
no subject
[Here Moloch is, spouting all these dire warnings, and Millium is just putting her hands behind her head with a cheeky grin.
Doesn't sound like any of those concerns have landed. This still just sounds like fun to her.]
no subject
If George knows what's good for him then he won't. It won't end well.
[A person who willingly would want to mingle with sparks at the peak of their fun can only lead things further into disaster]
no subject
She giggles.]
You say that like anybody I know knows what's good for 'em. Man, we wouldn't get half our stuff done if we did!
no subject
no subject
[Millium, how is this "usual" to anyone but you?]
no subject
[Othar Tryggvassen, Gentleman Adventurer. Not the most beloved guy around]
no subject
[A giggle.]
I dunno 'bout that. But it sure does sound cool.
