WEEK 2: April 8th - April 12th

Second Week

Seven days have passed. Quite peaceful days, almost too peaceful. The town has welcomed you, excited to see tourists for the first time in many, many, many years. Some may have liked the peace, others may have been annoyed by it, but it was undeniable Cartesio seemed like such a nice and safe place it was hard to believe you had been told to kill each other.

But the threat is still up in the air. What's more: how much patience does the Sergeant have left?

Every time you take a look into the Lodge, you see the Sergeant. Lately he's looking more and more annoyed. Even though you can't see his face, you can feel he's getting frustrated. How long will it be before he lashes out and does something about these peaceful days?

Nobody in the town could suspect the harrowing times that'd befall Cartesio.

When you wake up on Sunday, you'll find new maps in the map rack and brochures on the table, showing places you hadn't noticed in the town before. Enjoy!

Maybe if I keep doing stuff, Sarge'll let it turn back on...? I just kinda feel like he's mocking me with this.

[he breaks off one of the cans of beer from the six-pack] Like, where am I supposed to store this? No matter how good it is, if it ain't cold, it's gross.

[Millium tilts her head at it.]

Yeah, I think I remember Instructor Sara sayin' somethin' like that, too.

[Ah, fond memories of her alcoholic teacher.]

If he wants us to help 'im out, he's really goin' about this so wrong...

Right? He gets so hot-headed too. Like, if things don't go his way, he throws a tantrum. Like a baby.

[says the manchild here]

Right? I know Sakura was sayin' at the meeting that he's only doin' it 'cause that's what he thinks'll get us to act, but man. I'm way happier doin' something if someone just asks!

[Says the thirteen year old girl who regularly does things because someone asked her not to.]

[a sigh as he looks down at the can in his hand. Osomatsu doesn't want to do anything for the Sergeant, but solving the puzzle with everyone was kind of fun]

Yeah... [he looks up at her] Well, whatever. We did something for him, he did something for us. So we should be good, right? At least for this week.

[doublelammy]

At least for this week. I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps makin' us do it, though.

[A pause, thinking.]

...I think it mighta been on Wednesday last time, too, actually. Huh. Guess he likes havin' a schedule.

[relieable]

[hmm]

Interesting. I wonder if there's something special that happens on Wednesdays, or something.

[doublelammy]

Or maybe he just needs somethin' to get him over hump day.

[Millium logic: what logic?]

[a laugh]

Yeah, I guess with a face like his, he'd need a reason t'get outta bed in the morning.

[doublelammy]

[Millium's laughing, too.]

Man, no kidding. I wouldn't wanna get up n' go brush my teeth if that's what I had to look at!

People'd probably be more sympathetic if he wasn't... you know... talkin' about murder all the time.

Right... or at least gave us any clue why he needed our help? Jeez. And here I was kinda getting why people had a hate-on for Gramps, but man, even his orders make more sense than "hey, can you guys kill each other? That'd be great."

[relieable]

Yeah... [he scratches his cheek] I mean, even if he had a good reason, murder seems a little... heavy.

[doublelammy]

Just a little.

[She goes quiet for a moment.]

If it's like last time, if someone does go for it, it's not just gonna be "oh, great, someone's dead and I'm happy now," either. I don't know what he gets out of makin' us all go against each other like this...

...Whaddaya mean? [his expression becomes more concerned]

Last time, after we found Lovepon, he dragged us all together for hours and made us all stand around and yell at each other and vote on who did it.

We got lucky, guessing Mira. I really didn't know when I cast my vote if it was even her or not...

[oh. that's. icky. Osomatsu stares for a moment, a sick feeling in his gut]

You're saying he wants us t'kill someone, and then fish out the murderer ourselves? [WHY]

[doublelammy]

[Nod.]

N' once we voted, he put Mira in the electric chair.

[It gets worse! Sorry, Oso.]

[GROSS......

this is so out of his wheelhouse]

What the hell, man? That just... it's cruel. [he's not used to this. he's just a normal human, living a normal human life!]

[doublelammy]

[Hers, too, buddy. She's a spy, but not a murderer.]

Yeah. It is.

So, like... if he has a goal here, if he needs help, this isn't how to do it. This is just how to make people hate him and take him out.

[And for the first time, she actually fully understands that urge.]

[he knew the Sergeant was messed up, but, man. this is on a whole different level]

I hope someone does.

I really never thought I'd be the one sayin' somethin' like this, but... me, too.

[he's quiet for a moment, then realizes how that must sound, that he wants this dude killed.

but, honestly, Sarge deserves it! for tormenting little girls]

...Anyway. Whatever. I don't wanna talk about that bastard anymore.

[doublelammy]

Me either.

[A pause to yawn.]

...I kinda wanna go get breakfast before I go an' pass out on your bed instead o' mine.

[Or just go back to her own room and crash, but she's tried that already with limited success.]
