Week 2: Investigation

The Sergeant's deadline is tonight. An offer to get in contact with people you know, yet also a threat. Given how fed up he was, it's unlikely he's joking about the kind of cruelty he's willing to go through for the sake of getting what he wants.

That's why it may not be so surprising that, early in Friday morning, there's this air of tension, despite the bright sun in the sky. It doesn't help that a firetruck and a couple patrolcars race through the streets, passing in front of the motel and going west. The reason why is clear after a single glance:

There's a thick column of black smoke emanating from somewhere inside the Junkyard.

[So let's take a look at this car. Any obvious signs of why it was on fire?]

[ Much like around the car, there's a strong smell of something burnt. Ever smelled motor oil, Olympia? ]

[She sure has. (Wait, what?) That's not necessarily a surprise... unless she should see some oil where it shouldn't be?]

[cartesio]

[ It might be a little hard, as the whole car was pretty on fire...but sure enough, if she looks hard enough, some motor oil drips down the side. ]

[Following her nose to find this is way less exciting than Froot Loops.

Anything else here, or is that about it?]

[ That's about it for around the car, but there are other areas of interest, if you want to take a wander around the junkyard! ]

[Wandering sounds like a good idea. Olympia motions for Millium to follow, then starts moving.]

[ Away from both the stack of cars and Moloch's body, you'll find something discarded in the dirt and a little trampled--a box of matches? ]

[carbide]

[So. Probably no points for guessing how this is related. Anything left inside?]

[ Yes! It's mostly full. ]

[carbide]

[Cool! We've got ourself a nice set of arson-ing equipment here. Anything else interesting in this vicinity?]

[cartesio]

[ Yes, actually. You'll find, a little ways off, what appears to be an unfinished radio. Screws and parts and everything, like someone was just working on it. ]

[carbide]

[Well this is... a thing. Olympia's not really familiar with this kind of equipment, but it all definitely looks related. Maybe she'll just... gather it up.]

[cartesio]

[ Maybe someone else will know just what it is. That's not the only thing in this area, though. There's one more point of interest, right near the radio:

A mark on the ground, thin and deep. ]

[Straight line?]

[ Yes, though not very far across. It's more like a jab, if that makes sense? ]
