Week 2 - after trial

[everyone is probably more than a little stunned over what has been going on. while it is true that the Sergeant told them all this would happen, it's different to have to witness it with one's own eyes. while Nine is led away, and the townspeople leave the court, it is up to the visitors to decide how to move forward. do they talk among themselves? do they reflect on the events that took place alone? one thing that is certain is that the Sergeant got his way this week. will he continue to force them to keep picking each other off in the weeks that come? only time will tell.

this isn't really an after party. it's too sad, but perhaps many people will take comfort in the fact that they are not alone. either mingle at the motel, or somewhere else in town, or even visit Nine in his cell. it's up to you as to how you will spend the rest of this afternoon]

[okay. so that was a thing that just... happened. Osomatsu is numb as he walks back to the motel. he doesn't feel like getting dinner, doesn't think he'd be able to eat. he mostly just wants to sit down and... he doesn't know? he wants to go home, actually.

he walks into the motel on autopilot, moves over to look at the hanging mural that has been drawn on by several people. then he flops into one of the lounge chairs and drops his head back, looking up at the ceiling. he'll probably engage if you talk to him, but it's easy to pass him by.

if you're Sakura or Millium, though, you're going to get his undivided attention]

[ Yeah, this.... this sure all happened. Cian feels sick physically and mentally, but if there's one thing she's determined to do it's not showing that. So when she shits down across from Osomatsu, she is wearing her usual smile. ]

Are you... alright? I mean, as much as can be.

[ah, Cian! Osomatsu tips his head forward to look at her, and tries to smile back, but it's hard... he's worn out]

I mean, I guess. Wasn't really expecting people to die, but, you know...

I know what you mean.... Even though everyone laid it out as likely, even though I tried to be prepared... it's still...

[ She trails off awkwardly because she notices a wavering in her voice that she'd prefer to not display. ]

In my home, we'd be sent to therapy to process this now. Here, we only have each other.

[yeaaaaah... therapy actually sounds really good right now. maybe talking it out is better than keeping it in]

I just... How do you cope with something like this? That Moloch guy didn't deserve to die. [he doesn't think anyone here does... except for maybe Dabi, but even he hasn't done anything here that would warrant a death sentence. yet] It could've been any one of us, huh?

Mhm... Nine didn't care who it was. Moloch-san was just in the wrong place at the wrong time...

[ Cian wishes she had ever attended a session about murder before, but those are rare and she can't even imagine what would be said in them. ]

Nobody here deserves to die, but I still can't help thinking it hit one of the worst people, with him wanting to live so badly and all.

Maybe tellin' people you really wanna live is a bad idea. Just seems like... I dunno. You're inviting trouble. Which seems dumb, 'cause people should be able to say that they wanna live as much as they want.

That's really just cruel though... If it doesn't matter who you kill, why would you go for someone like that?

[ She pauses, thoughtful, then adds: ] Because you think people are fundamentally wrong for considering their lives important, maybe.

[Osomatsu nods. he thinks his life is the most important, too... but when he thinks about this woman, or Millium or Sakura, or his family... he can't decide who is more important]

Maybe that was it... Though, I think Nine was just desperate.

Mhm, agreed. Having died once already must have confused him.

[ She runs her hand through her hair and then leans back in her chair, sighing. ]

That still sounds weird to say.

[oh. that's right...]

...Did you know anything about that? Er, about Nine... being dead before...

Yes, he told me only a few days after we arrived. I think it just slipped out of him then, he asked me to keep it a secret pretty quickly.

Didn't want to make Millium-chan sad, especially... now that didn't work out for him.

[ah, a secret. he supposes he better not try to get anymore information out of that, then. Osomatsu looks down at his hands. he's folded them by now, if only to keep from wringing them obsessively]

Yeah, sure didn't... [he's quiet for a moment, before looking up at Cian again] Thanks for, uh... For comforting her.

I wish we could do more.... She's so small... Sakura-chan as well.

[ Cian's seen Osomatsu take care of the other girl and Osomatsu's gained a few points in her liking for it. ]

Even if some children may be already troubled by natural disposition, it still seems needlessly cruel to bring anyone that age here. Those two especially.

Exactly! [his head snaps up and he clenches his hands into fists] I've been sayin' that since the beginning! They shouldn't be here... None of us should, but especially not the kids.

As a child I found it suffocating that adults were so preoccupied with children's safety, but being an adult myself now... I get it.

I want to make their safety my highest priority.

[ Not because they're 'the future' or whatever, but just because they are, right now and right here. They exist in the present and in the present, they deserve better. ]

[yeah... yeah! he feels the same. Osomatsu is not a responsible adult, or anything, but, man... what he wouldn't give to keep Sakura, and Millium, and the others safe]

We should do whatever we can to protect them! Even if... I don't do anything else while I'm here...

... it's hard, isn't it? Everyone has all these special powers and all this knowledge that might help us get out of it and we're just... normal humans.

[ She's very sympathetic towards the 'even if I don't do anything else' feeling. ]
