WEEK 3: April 15th - April 19th

Third Week

The peaceful times are over. Moloch von Zinzer was murdered, and Nine was sentenced as his murderer. Everyone in Cartesio knows that.

Although life goes on, it seems the town of Cartesio isn't going to forget the tourists' transgressions. Not only they commited larceny in the cinema, they also murdered and executed in their town! It's no surprise their hospitality towards the visitors has cooled down considerably.

Not only they're maintaining a tense cordiality with them, they also have started talking behind the visitors' backs. All kinds of rumors are starting to sprout, yet nobody seems to be willing to say it to the tourists' faces. Talking directly to most passerby makes them distrustful, and nobody seems to want to be in close quarters alone with them.

It's only matter of time before the relationship between tourists and Cartesio starts degrading even further.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

Why are you watching him eat?

He said that he and his superiors were from a world that was very different... But also that they're from a small island near Iceland.

[What is Iceland? Kino sure as hell doesn't know.]

I was watching him eat because I brought him pie the first time I visited, and then a burger. I can never see his face when he eats, though. [Attempts have been made.]

So what the shadowy shit is alive?

I'm not sure about that. He said he thinks it might be because something went wrong when he arrived in this world.

He's a little touchy about missing a face.

[streetwolf]

... Does that mean we could of lost our faces too?

[quickpersuader]

If we have our faces now we're probably okay.

[Hopefully.]

[streetwolf]

Well yeah, but we might not have been. Any ideas what that shit is anyway?

[quickpersuader]

Nope. None.

[streetwolf]

Well, okay then... I don't think we're ever going to get answers to some of this. Heck, I'm not even sure if we'll get back home.

But he isn't considered a tourist, as we are. Strange.

[quickpersuader]

He did say he isn't even sure how long ago he got here. Only that it was at least six months ago.

[carbide]

That could mean anything. A century is at least six months.

[quickpersuader]

[Nodding.]

He didn't seem to realize they would be going to another world for this mission, either. But it seems he accepted it as the will of his superiors.

[clearities]

He told me that, too. [ So she's actually not surprised about it. ] But what exactly was he eating...?

[quickpersuader]

Lemon pie during the first meeting. A large burger stacked with every extra option I could ask for during the second.

[clearities]

You... made him eat that? [ There's a slight unanswered question of 'why', though. ]

[quickpersuader]

A good way to get to know people is through food... although it seems he doesn't have any preferences, so he'll eat whatever you put in front of him.

[clearities]

Maybe I should try cooking something for him the next time I visit!

[quickpersuader]

That's an idea...

[Kino looks thoughtful.]

Maybe I should try cooking something myself.

You know how to cook, Kino-san?

[quickpersuader]

Yeah. Sometimes I catch animals and cook them for meals on the road.

[Just. Just don't think too hard on it.]

[clearities]

You did? What kind of animals did you catch?

[quickpersuader]

It depends on the region, but... things like rabbits or ducks. If there's deer, I can usually catch a calf. The mother usually tries to interfere, but it's not too hard to shoo them away.
