WEEK 3: April 15th - April 19th

Third Week

The peaceful times are over. Moloch von Zinzer was murdered, and Nine was sentenced as his murderer. Everyone in Cartesio knows that.

Although life goes on, it seems the town of Cartesio isn't going to forget the tourists' transgressions. Not only they commited larceny in the cinema, they also murdered and executed in their town! It's no surprise their hospitality towards the visitors has cooled down considerably.

Not only they're maintaining a tense cordiality with them, they also have started talking behind the visitors' backs. All kinds of rumors are starting to sprout, yet nobody seems to be willing to say it to the tourists' faces. Talking directly to most passerby makes them distrustful, and nobody seems to want to be in close quarters alone with them.

It's only matter of time before the relationship between tourists and Cartesio starts degrading even further.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[Here we are again...

Kino notes the shovels, but glances around at their surroundings a bit further. Is the fence chain link, and therefore able to be seen through to better grasp their location? Or are there any other clues to be seen?]

[ It is indeed a chain link fence! And, all of you are on the outside of it. It gives you a good look at the refinery, at least?

This doesn't seem to be too far out of town, judging by the lights in the distance, just beyond the refinery, but also strangely, you can't seem to get your barrings. Maybe those are some buildings off between some of the stacks, maybe you've seen them before? But it's impossible to know for sure. ]

If we have to hop a fence to do anything, I’m going to be so mad.

You should probably prepare yourself, then.

[Kino does not have high hopes.]

[An incredibly heavy sigh.]

Figures. You ever done it before?

A few times, yes.

[Live as a traveler sure gives one lots of life experiences.]

Is it hard? I’ve never done it.

If it's your first time, take it slow and be careful not to get your hands or feet caught on the links.

Maybe we can try climbing it instead of hopping it...? My big brother used to do that a lot.

If you need help climbing the fence, I can give you a lift.

[She hates accepting help, but after a pause...]

[once people start making their way up the fence, Hawks hold his arms out to Natalie] Whenever you’re ready, princess. [he can princess carry or just wrap his arms around her waist, whichever she’d prefer. It’s not a long flight, so either works for him.]

If you ever call me that again I'm going to puke directly on you.

[Natalie don't say that to people who are trying to help you—

Princess carry it is!! She looks entirely unenthusiastic about this prospect, but here we are.]

Probably not the worst thing to ever end up on me, but I like my clothes how they are so I’ll take that under advisement.

[way to take a joke!! He’ll still scoop her up, and make his way over the fence. Easy peasy, time for ~vandalism~]

Perhaps we should try circling it looking for a gate first?

[ Not where you can see. ]

[As might be expected. He walks closer to the fence. How much can he make plants grow here? Can he make them grow around the fence to make it easier to climb?]

[ He can sure try. They'll at least stretch up tall enough so he can find his footing better, if that helps him. ]

[silvertongueheir]

[He'll do that, then. And try to make it strong enough that people can follow behind if necessary.]

Here, this should make climbing somewhat easier.

[quickpersuader]

[Kino's smile can't be seen due to having tied a detachable sleeve around the face, but it can be heard somewhat in the traveler's voice.]

Just help the others up.

[And clambers up and over at a steady pace!]

[Well, everyone else can bicker about whether or not property damage is "bad" or whatever, but Millium's gonna scoop up a can and see what she can do about scaling this fence.

The plants definitely help her at least a little with footing, but she's scaling this fence pretty fearlessly regardless of their help. Make that eighteen stress ulcers for Natalie, especially when her right foot slips for a second.
