The peaceful times are over. Moloch von Zinzer was murdered, and Nine was sentenced as his murderer. Everyone in Cartesio knows that.
Although life goes on, it seems the town of Cartesio isn't going to forget the tourists' transgressions. Not only they commited larceny in the cinema, they also murdered and executed in their town! It's no surprise their hospitality towards the visitors has cooled down considerably.
Not only they're maintaining a tense cordiality with them, they also have started talking behind the visitors' backs. All kinds of rumors are starting to sprout, yet nobody seems to be willing to say it to the tourists' faces. Talking directly to most passerby makes them distrustful, and nobody seems to want to be in close quarters alone with them.
It's only matter of time before the relationship between tourists and Cartesio starts degrading even further.
In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and
the maps have been updated once again.

Well, it's not like Kino doesn't understand the feeling. While Millium's reloading, Kino moves to the stall next to her.]
If there's someone you want dead, you shouldn't mistreat your weapon before you can shoot.
[...Wait. Wasn't it just for self defense...?
Then again, even Kino's more stonyfaced than usual.]

She's quiet for a moment as she works.]
...Don't want to kill him yet. ["Yet."] It's against the rules. He'll kill me.
I can't die 'til I save Rean.
[That narrows down who "he" could be, then.]

Then it's even more important to take care of it. Make sure it's ready when the chance comes.
[And, standing in the next door stall- begins to fire. The shots are all one after the other at a quick, steady pace.
Needless to say they all hit the target dead on. Kino only stops to reload.]
It's better to be calm when the time is right, anyway.
no subject
...I just want to be angry at something.
[She stands back up, taking aim again now that she's reloaded.]
Something I can actually do something to.
[Bang.]

[Bang.]
But it sounds like that will be a while.

These kinds of things... I don't know how to hold on to them at all. Maybe you guys are used to feeling things like this, but everything's brand new to me.
[Bang.]

[Two more shots. Down to three rounds.]

[Another shot.]
I wasn't made to have feelings like this. Just to do what Gramps told me and carry out my missions. Things like this, they get in the way of my job just a little bit...
[Two more.]

[The shots stop. This is new information.]

I was made, not born. S'why I can do things like link up with Lammy n' why I'm not gonna get much bigger than this. I don't think it's all that different otherwise, buuut I also don't really remember what went down at the place that made me.
[Bang.]
They made sure of that.
[Which makes all of this with Rean bother her even more...]
no subject
Then, your memories... Did they erase them?
no subject
At least, everything from the Workshop. I only remember waking up in Gramps' care, and everything from there. I know I was there, 'cause Gramps filled me in on that much, but everything else?
Blank.

[There's no pity in Kino's tone. But there is a slight understanding, even if it's not really the same.
Kino looks back to the targets.]
Maybe it's different if you're born that way. But... it sounds frustrating to me.
[Bang.]

And I know there's more Rean n' the others would wanna know, but I can't tell them. And with stuff like this... now I wish I could've.
If he knew, maybe this wouldn't be...
[A sigh in frustration, then another shot.]

[Two more shots. Kino stops to reload.]
Sometimes, these things come down to luck. ...Besides that, it is what it is. It's better to find a solution, I think.
no subject
Solving this kind of problem, it's not a thing I've ever had to do, y'know? I just follow the leader and smash what they tell me to smash. But here, it's not like I can smash Sarge, as much as I want to, and it's not like anyone else has any idea what to do, either.

[All reloaded. Kino takes aim once more.]
This would be a good time to put those spy skills to use.
no subject
I'll see what I can do, I guess.
[Which so far seems to be "hassle a couple NPCs and do an investigation next week," but, you know. The fourth wall and all that.]
no subject
[It's all very matter-of-fact.]
Battles don't always have to be fought head on. Tricking your opponent and laying traps for them works too.
[Chivalry is all well and good, but not something Kino finds worth dying for.
Six shots fired, all in rapid succession, as fast as they possibly can.]
no subject
I can look for weak points, at least. I'm going to go see Sarge today no matter what, so I guess I'll see what I can find.
[It's amazing watching Kino shoot, really...]
no subject
If you find anything out, we could try to think of something together.
no subject
I'll let you know if I do. I don't have the highest hopes, given that it's Sarge, but... y'know.
