WEEK 3: April 15th - April 19th

Third Week

The peaceful times are over. Moloch von Zinzer was murdered, and Nine was sentenced as his murderer. Everyone in Cartesio knows that.

Although life goes on, it seems the town of Cartesio isn't going to forget the tourists' transgressions. Not only they commited larceny in the cinema, they also murdered and executed in their town! It's no surprise their hospitality towards the visitors has cooled down considerably.

Not only they're maintaining a tense cordiality with them, they also have started talking behind the visitors' backs. All kinds of rumors are starting to sprout, yet nobody seems to be willing to say it to the tourists' faces. Talking directly to most passerby makes them distrustful, and nobody seems to want to be in close quarters alone with them.

It's only matter of time before the relationship between tourists and Cartesio starts degrading even further.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[She's quiet at first, just kind of glaring down at the ground. But eventually, she does pipe up.]

...when I was here that first week, there were two people here from my world with me. Did I tell you that before?

[odasaku]

I think I heard you say that. You said you hoped they went back home.

[ he has a bad feeling about this scoob ]

[doublelammy]

...yeah. "Hoped."

[She kicks at a pebble in the road.]

Rean is still here. They were talking about him in the paper this morning, how he's the foreman of the place Sarge dropped us at last night... but that doesn't make any sense at all.

[odasaku]

That's--

[ oda's eyes widen a bit, obviously shocked by the news. but then, it quickly falls back to its seemingly neutral expression.

however, there's a bit of worry mixed in there, too. ]

I'm sorry. It must be tough.

[doublelammy]

When I asked him what was goin' on, he said he lives here. Like it's just natural. But no one turns into a foreman or whatever in just a couple o' weeks, y'know...?

And he's... he's supposed to be home. People need him there...

[odasaku]

So you think he was controlled somehow? Like brainwashing?

[doublelammy]

He must be. He still remembered me, and when I talked about everyone else he looked real guilty so I think he remembers them, too, but...

He wouldn't just make a life here like that. He'd be fighting to get home harder than anyone.

[odasaku]

[ oda sighs. ]

That sounds terrible...have you talked to the Sergeant about it?

[doublelammy]

Yeah. Which didn't help at all. Shocker, I'm sure.

I asked what was up, since he said he sent them home, and he just said "he is home."

[odasaku]

So he made them think that they are home. [ he frowns, just a little ] That doesn't make much sense.

[ but at least they're at the lake now! oda picks up a pebble, handing it to millium. ]

Here. Throw as far as you can without hurting yourself.

[doublelammy]

Right? I don't know what his goal is, here...

[But ah, yes, lake. Lake, and pebble. She takes it gratefully... steps back, winds up, and throws the thing as hard as she can.

On her own, she doesn't have too much strength to her, but it still manages to go a decent amount of distance.]

Ha!

[odasaku]

That's not bad.

[ oda picks his own pebble up. he has quite a bit of arm strength, and should be able to throw the pebble quite far--

but it falls just a little before where millium's pebble landed. what gives? ]

Ah. I lost. [ he shrugs, not too upset. there's a small chance (definitely) that he may have been going easy. ]

[doublelammy]

[Millium, fortunately for Oda, does not pick up on that. Or maybe she's intentionally ignoring it, who knows.]

Ehehe! Maybe I'm better at this than I thought~!

[Looks like this is cheering her up a bit. She picks up another rock and chucks it as hard as she can, again, this time exaggerating it a little by going up onto one foot as she does.

...And nearly tripping and falling flat on her face, but her rock does miraculously make it slightly farther nonetheless.]
