WEEK 3: April 15th - April 19th

Third Week

The peaceful times are over. Moloch von Zinzer was murdered, and Nine was sentenced as his murderer. Everyone in Cartesio knows that.

Although life goes on, it seems the town of Cartesio isn't going to forget the tourists' transgressions. Not only they commited larceny in the cinema, they also murdered and executed in their town! It's no surprise their hospitality towards the visitors has cooled down considerably.

Not only they're maintaining a tense cordiality with them, they also have started talking behind the visitors' backs. All kinds of rumors are starting to sprout, yet nobody seems to be willing to say it to the tourists' faces. Talking directly to most passerby makes them distrustful, and nobody seems to want to be in close quarters alone with them.

It's only matter of time before the relationship between tourists and Cartesio starts degrading even further.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[Oh. Franciscus doesn't have that much attachment to people he's never met, but he remembers her looking for her master when they first arrived. He makes a gesture at Gerard, who pauses in his grooming to just wrap an entire wing around Sakura instead.]

...I'm sorry. And you don't know where they actually are?

[clearities]

[ Sakura looks absolutely torn-- like she's about to cry. The tears haven't started yet, but they're really close. Really, really close. ] I don't. I couldn't even sense that he was still here, and I should have been able to...! [ It hurts so much. It makes her heart ache. It makes her feel useless. ] Sergeant-san, he... he said that they're okay, but that their memories about what happened with the murder, and about him- he took them away. [ She sniffles, just a little bit. ] It... should have been me. If it would have given them a chance to go home. It really should have been me that lost my memories and they should have taken my place. I'm no good with this... with murder... I can't stand people being killed..... but I know that I have to go home, too, because Syaoran-kun and my big brother and everyone is waiting for me, but it's not fair that I got an opportunity that the others aren't getting...

[...damnit, he's close enough to her that he might as well. Still, he glances around a bit to make sure no one's watching. Then he nudges Gerard's wing aside a little, and wraps his arms around Sakura in a somewhat awkward hug.]

I wish I could give you more advice on what to do...but you should know, I appreciate you being here. You shouldn't sell yourself short. And you don't have to investigate murders if you don't want to. There's enough of us here who are more experienced with that to handle things, should it happen again.

[clearities]

[ Bright green eyes lower for a moment before they find themselves widening at the sudden hug-- the tears that tempt to fall just getting blinked away in the process. ] I wish I could do something, anything. I didn't want to do something bad yesterday, so all I could do was nothing while everyone else was-- [ The words die in her throat. ] But really? You... appreciate me? [ It's a surprise to her. But then she chews on her lower lip, nervous, shaking her head. ] I want to help. I don't want to investigate the murders... if they happen... but I don't want to be useless and sit around and do nothing like before. I want to help out. If it means I have to... I'll help. But I really hope... nobody else dies. I really wish that doesn't happen anymore.

You've done your best to share what you know, and try to keep everyone's spirits up. And your desire not to inconvenience the townspeople, even if they fail to appreciate it, is commendable.

[He backs out of the hug and pats her head, gently but still awkwardly.] I think your getting information from the Sergeant is just as important.
