WEEK 3: April 15th - April 19th

Third Week

The peaceful times are over. Moloch von Zinzer was murdered, and Nine was sentenced as his murderer. Everyone in Cartesio knows that.

Although life goes on, it seems the town of Cartesio isn't going to forget the tourists' transgressions. Not only they commited larceny in the cinema, they also murdered and executed in their town! It's no surprise their hospitality towards the visitors has cooled down considerably.

Not only they're maintaining a tense cordiality with them, they also have started talking behind the visitors' backs. All kinds of rumors are starting to sprout, yet nobody seems to be willing to say it to the tourists' faces. Talking directly to most passerby makes them distrustful, and nobody seems to want to be in close quarters alone with them.

It's only matter of time before the relationship between tourists and Cartesio starts degrading even further.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

Oooh, neat! One of my friends back at Thors is a musician, too! He mostly plays violin, but he did play keyboard during our class' concert during the festival!

[Wistfully:] I wanna hear you play someday...

[robitussin]

Yeah? What style does he play? Classical, jazz, rock...?

[As opposed to her normal sardonic tone, there's clear and sincere interest here.]

...Yeah. There's an organ in the church, but organ and piano are way different.

Classical, mostly, but I think what we played at the concert were rock songs...? That kinda music is kinda new in Erebonia.

Ahaha... I was just a backup dancer, so I wouldn't know any different... I hope, if more places keep showin' up, you get a real piano, then.

'Cause if you do I'm totally gonna hound you til you play it for me!

It's new? What year is it for you?

[She shrugs again, crossing her arms.]

Just don't, like, build it up too much. It's not a huge deal.

Umm... 1205?

...Okay. Different calendar systems, I guess, because there's no way rock music was becoming a thing in my 1205.

Yeah, I dooon't think you guys run off the Septian Calendar.

What year is it where you're from, though?

[robitussin]

Never even heard of it, so I'm going to guess 'no'.

Woooah. That's a pretty big difference, yeah...

[robitussin]

Yeah. It sounds like the places we're from are pretty different overall, so it's not that surprising, I guess.

[doublelammy]

I guess... A thousand years just seems like a lot to say "eh, it's not that surprising," y'know?

Wonder what my world'll be like in 2009...

[robitussin]

If I had to guess? Robots, everywhere.

Ehehe... doesn't sound too far off. Tech gets better all the time!

[robitussin]

Yeah? What've you got there, other than giant robots? We aren't quite at your level where I'm from.

[doublelammy]

Umm... well, I know when we were in Roer, I saw this shop that was selling refrigerators and washing machines like the ones we have at the motel!

[Millium's canon: robots? Normal. Washing machines? BRAND NEW TECH.]

[robitussin]

...Okay, hang on, I'm confused again. Giant robots are a thing, but basic household appliances are just starting to happen?

[doublelammy]

[gaspeth]

"Basic?" Those things are basic to you guys? [that's SO COOL] Where I'm from, those are things only nobles really get...!

[That did not answer the question, but. The answer is, apparently, yes.]

[robitussin]

I can't believe that giant robots and washing machines are coming around at the same time. That's...

[She shakes her head.]

That's incredibly bizarre.

[doublelammy]

Yeah... I mean, to be fair? The Divine Knights are from the Dark Ages. We don't know anything about how they came to be, n' the only reason we have Soldat units n' stuff now is 'cause Crow let the Noble Alliance study up on Ordine.

[So, basically, the robots had a supernatural head start.]

If the Dark Ages had fridges, we sure haven't figured that one out yet.

[robitussin]

[She takes a moment to try and puzzle that out, but in the end...]

Yeah, I think this is one of those things I'm just not going to be able to wrap my head around, no matter what I do.

Fair enough. I don't actually understand how any of this stuff works either.
