WEEK 3: April 15th - April 19th

Third Week

The peaceful times are over. Moloch von Zinzer was murdered, and Nine was sentenced as his murderer. Everyone in Cartesio knows that.

Although life goes on, it seems the town of Cartesio isn't going to forget the tourists' transgressions. Not only they commited larceny in the cinema, they also murdered and executed in their town! It's no surprise their hospitality towards the visitors has cooled down considerably.

Not only they're maintaining a tense cordiality with them, they also have started talking behind the visitors' backs. All kinds of rumors are starting to sprout, yet nobody seems to be willing to say it to the tourists' faces. Talking directly to most passerby makes them distrustful, and nobody seems to want to be in close quarters alone with them.

It's only matter of time before the relationship between tourists and Cartesio starts degrading even further.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

Well technically they were. This girl, she got shot and they were looking after her. Then some sick bastards came and... [He pauses. She doesn't need to know that bit.] We turned up and kicked their asses. The girl's gone off to get married now.

So it's all good. See?

[She nods.]

Yeah, okay, that makes more sense.

I'm guessin' those guys are in jail or dead?

[streetwolf]

Nah. Turns out the girl's family owed them a lot so Miss Rose ended up giving them a load of cash to make them fuck off.

[doublelammy]

...Guess it's the same in every world, then. Money really can buy everything.

[streetwolf]

...Can't say I'm happy about that. I think we'd have been better shooting em. Richard got pissy about us letting them have the money and not giving them the girl but, guy's like that...

[He shudders, then remembers he's talking to an actual child.]

[doublelammy]

...Yeah, I think I know what you mean.

[Thankfully, the Actual Child knows way more than she should.]

I don't say it 'cause I'm happy that's the way things are, either. It just is.

[streetwolf]

Best way to be... It don't matter how bad things get you just gotta roll with it.

[And there's a sigh]

Yep. And hope that eventually, if you keep on rollin' and tryin' and whatever else you gotta do to get by, that things get better.

[streetwolf]

Exactly. There's always a way to scrape by, even if it's by the skin of your teeth.

[He's not optimistic enough to think things will get better.] Worst thing you can do is just lay down and give up.
