Third Week

The peaceful times are over. Moloch von Zinzer was murdered, and Nine was sentenced as his murderer. Everyone in Cartesio knows that.

Although life goes on, it seems the town of Cartesio isn't going to forget the tourists' transgressions. Not only they commited larceny in the cinema, they also murdered and executed in their town! It's no surprise their hospitality towards the visitors has cooled down considerably.

Not only they're maintaining a tense cordiality with them, they also have started talking behind the visitors' backs. All kinds of rumors are starting to sprout, yet nobody seems to be willing to say it to the tourists' faces. Talking directly to most passerby makes them distrustful, and nobody seems to want to be in close quarters alone with them.

It's only matter of time before the relationship between tourists and Cartesio starts degrading even further.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[Squints at the archeops. While he's... endearing in his own right, she still doesn't completely Trust Like That. Though, after a second she directs her attention the red and white ball that Francy's holding.]

That can hold him? Isn't it a little small for. Gerard.

[By "a little" she means "way too small."]

Of course. All Pokeballs work that way. [He holds it out to Gerard, who nudges it with his snout. There's a bright red glow as he's sucked in, disappearing into it. Franciscus holds the ball out for her to examine.] You can recall them by pointing and pressing the button as well. Each ball is registered to one Pokemon only, unless it's empty.

[UM??? She's not going to question it but her eyes are definitely wide right now. Weird Pokeball laser technology bullshit is wild. ]

But how can you know for sure that a pokeball is empty- or well, unregistered. And what happens if you have more than one of those things? Wouldn't you get confused?

An unregistered Pokeball has a different weight to it, and usually they're kept separately from registered ones. Most Trainers simply remember which of their Pokemon is positioned where, or mark their balls in some way.

[duckrotation]

Different weight.... But wouldn't they be turned into whatever light you used to put that thing in the ball? It just doesn't make sense.

[Why is Pokemon science like this???]

Do you have any more of those things? Those. Pokemans.

[Spoken like a true grandma.]

I'm not a Pokeball scientist, so I can't explain all the details. Still, be assured that we have our ways of distinguishing Pokeballs.

[He nods at her question.] Though the rest of them are still in the Sergeant's clutches. But hopefully he will treat them as well as he has done for Gerard.

That Sergeant guy really is a jerk.

Are the rest of them similar to Gerard? You know, prehistoric fossils.

[silvertongueheir]

He's kept one promise, at least. [Though he shakes his head at her second question.]

Not at all. There's only a few species of Pokemon that fall under that category. Many more of them are already a natural part of the ecosystem.

[duckrotation]

[Huh.]

What are the rest of them like?

[silvertongueheir]

Oh, all sorts of creatures. There are over 600 species known, after all. There's ones that are more like animals, and ones more like plants, as well as others made up of all kinds of materials.

[duckrotation]

Oh, I was actually asking about your other little friends. The ones the sergeant took. I was curious about them.

[She didn't really doubt there being hundreds of different species. That's kind of a no-brainer considering how many animals there are on earth, both discovered and undiscovered.]
