WEEK 3: April 15th - April 19th

Third Week

The peaceful times are over. Moloch von Zinzer was murdered, and Nine was sentenced as his murderer. Everyone in Cartesio knows that.

Although life goes on, it seems the town of Cartesio isn't going to forget the tourists' transgressions. Not only they commited larceny in the cinema, they also murdered and executed in their town! It's no surprise their hospitality towards the visitors has cooled down considerably.

Not only they're maintaining a tense cordiality with them, they also have started talking behind the visitors' backs. All kinds of rumors are starting to sprout, yet nobody seems to be willing to say it to the tourists' faces. Talking directly to most passerby makes them distrustful, and nobody seems to want to be in close quarters alone with them.

It's only matter of time before the relationship between tourists and Cartesio starts degrading even further.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

Can you really say that after how he used the people from home to try and push us to kill that time?

[It's not an argumentative tone, just incredulous.]

You think so? [ A proverbial question, really. ] I wish that I could just ask nicely and figure out a way out of here, but it's... not that easy, I realize. But I think if I can talk to the others and find out more about this place. And a way out.

[marmoron]

How would it be your fault, Sakura? You didn't ask to be here and you didn't ask to be used in some stupid murder game.

[His brow's furrowed like this question has a self explanatory answer. As for the answer she gives him, he simply looks back towards the hydrangeas and suppresses a sigh.]

You're the strangest pick of the Sergeant's, you know that?

[Just the least suited person.]

[clearities]

It's just-- [ She shakes her head; while he's right in so many ways about how she didn't ask to be here and she didn't ask to be used in something like this, she still... ] I was thinking that maybe if the others were brought here, it would be because I was here. I don't want that. [ She doesn't want to be the reason, if it ever happens. However, when he says that it's strange, her gaze lifts a little, curious for a moment before it drops again. ] I... know. I still don't understand why I was picked to come here. [ And honestly? Sakura isn't sure if she ever will. ]

[marmoron]

[But sometimes the truth is just that reality can be a bag of dicks and what you'd prefer to be true doesn't end up being the actual narrative of the day. Keith's not going to argue that.]

I don't think any of us really understand why we're here. In the end, I guess I'm just glad it was me and not anyone else in my group.

[Kind of like how Sakura feels, really.]

[clearities]

Yeah... I think I understand that. Friends are really important.

[marmoron]

[There's a pause, a tiny frown.]

Mm. I didn't think so for a long time.

[clearities]

That sounds... like you were really lonely for a long time. But it's different now, isn't it?

[marmoron]

Honestly? I didn't think I was for a long time. After I started losing people -- that's when it started being lonely.

[Brow furrowing further, he sighs.]

That part isn't different at all.

[clearities]

I see... losing people does hurt a lot. [ She does understand that much, at least, as she finds herself frowning, just a bit. ] But does that mean you're lonely now, too? Because your friends aren't here?

[marmoron]

[...Ah. It's ot surprising that the conversation took this turn, but it's also not something he's really allowed himself fo dwell on. There's a pause, his eyes fixed on the next patch of dirt he has to dig up to help plant the next batch of hydrangeas.]

It's hard to be lonely when you're keeping yourself busy.

[clearities]
