Week 3: Investigation

This week's cloudy, dreary weather culminates in a thunderstorm, lasting most of the previous night. That means when you awake this morning, the town is damp and dark. It's not just the weather that gives off an oppressive feeling, though. The air, it's heavy.

The Sergeant told you, after all. This is your last day to prevent your deepest, darkest secrets from being revealed.

There's no immediate evidence that anyone's followed his orders, though. Maybe you'll get through this week without anymore unnecessary death.

Or, maybe not. Maybe you should take a look around town, just to be sure.

[ well, oda’s going to return to the junkyard after comforting cian. besides the remaining cars and knives, what’s the first thing that’s off about this place? any evidence of a fight? ]

[ There is no evidence of a fight. The place really does seem mostly untouched. You're going to have to do some digging. ]

[ oh god, okay. he will be looking underneath cars and trying to carefully dig through mounds of knives whatever other scraps? ]

I am very sorry to say no evidence is under cars, nor in knife piles. ]

anyways, is he going to have to do literal digging? or he’ll just keep looking through scrap piles for something that looks off. ]

[ Looking through piles of scraps might be more fruitful, but...it looks like Keith might have found something as well. ]

[It might mostly be metal, but Frasier is still “Ewewew”ing as he steps into the junkyard.

Is there, at first glance, anything that might immediately come off as out of the ordinary? Bonus points for anything not metal and not rusted.]

[ Not at first glance, but if you're really looking for something not metal? You'll find something...on one of the junk car piles. It rises higher, but at a point almost at eye-level, there's a discarded orange peel. ]

...well, Frasier. You are at the low point of your life. Rummaging through a junkyard in an unfamiliar town, attempting to solve murders and now you’re about to take a piece of DISCARDED FOOD with you!

Whatever. He’ll...he’ll grab it, but only after about five minutes of back and forthing on the issue, holding the discarded foodstuff out at arms length. Anything odd about it besides being discarded food? Or is he free to pursue clues that won’t make him want to hurl?]

Is it valid if he just kinda takes one of those rusty knifes and like...gently stab it so he can take it outta here.]

[ Not really! This place is mostly quiet. Nothing's off at first glance. ]

[Right then. He'll make his way over to one of the junk piles to give it a kick. He's wearing his armor again so what fear does he have of stabbing himself on a rusted knife or other sharp things?

[Sure! Frasier's alright and in the know about random Earth shit like yoga. so Keith probably just didn't see the guy there. He wouldn't kick a thing Frasier was looking at if he knew. (Probably).

[ The pile doesn't quite sway, but if the kick's hard enough, Keith will hear a light clink, from the very top of it. Sounds like he knocked something loose...but it's not coming down.

He might have to go up to it. ]

Looks like there’s something strange in that pile.

[That's weird. He'll try glancing up to see what made that noise before attempting to climb up to get a better look. From fighting a vicious war against an alien empire to climbing literal trash heaps. We're moving up in the world here boys.
