Week 3: Trial

April 20th. It was now time for the trial.

When everyone arrives at the trial room, the tribunes are already filled with townspeople. Compared to last week, there's less morbid curiosity and more quiet outrage. Everyone's glaring at the visitors while they enter the courtroom.

The number of podiums draped in black has increased dramatically. Nine's, Mako's, Sandalphon's, and Bakugou's have joined Moloch's, raising the number to five. That's one sixth of the available podiums. How many more will be covered in black velvet before these two months end?

Once everyone is at the right podium, the Sergeant bangs his gavel. He doesn't seem to be in better mood than before.

"Today the victim is Katsuki Bakugou. Solve it."

Without even bothering to taunt or be as antagonistic as usual, he waves the gavel. Five small photos appear on the podiums.

            

"When it's time, you shall cast your vote. Write it on paper or put the photo inside the slot, I don't really care about how you do it. What matters is that you actually do it. Start your discussion."

The trial room went completely silent, all the visitors can feel the attentive stares of the townspeople gathered to watch. It's up to them now to find the culprit.

Let the trial begin.

It's a poison. Though it seems like it was not actually used.

We don't know that for sure. This bottle I found might've just been a backup.

Anyone find another bottle somewhere else?

Wait did try poisoning Katsuki? What kind of poison is hemlock? Slow? Fast?

He had froth on his lips, didn't he? Sounds kind of like poison.

[Then, to the other question, he shrugs.]

No idea. They don't tend to keep that stuff accurate in film.

They probably had to poison him to slow him down a bit.

Katsuki wouldn't have been easy to take on in a fight.

I don't think we should be making theories based on a bottle that probably wasn't around. If you want, you could try doing a pocket check to make sure it isn't on someone, but...

All that destruction? It doesn't look like someone who was slowed down to me. The froth was probably from being drowned.

I think it’s more likely that the killer had planned different methods. Poison and immolation— it probably depended on the victim they would choose.

If that's true, they weren't paying attention to what happened during the last trial. At least with the motor oil.

It'd take a pretty stupid person to be walking around with poison still in their pockets, but a pocket check sounds like a start.

Tch... I don't think it's possible for him to hold back. I was messing with the guys at the casino and he started on about how giving them a chance was pointless.

[Seriously, this is the same kid who just screams fuck you at you, so no reason to think he'd suddenly be a shy rose in combat.]

So whoever did this to him was probably pretty good at fighting themselves if poison really wasn't involved.
