So before everyone can leave, Niwatori raises her voice louder than it's gone before now to draw a little attention, and then deflates immediately when she actually gets it.]

Excuse me, please! U-um... this case was really hard, and I think we could all use some time to cool our heads before we finally go back. So... ice cream? Who's with me?

[she'll lead the pack there and anyone else can go home or to visit Clarisse on the set of Orange is the new Black.

Niwa's not that good of a host though, she just gets her own ice cream and lets everyone serve themselves. Who is she to limit your freedom. (Someone who doesn't want to be partly responsible for a Millium Monstrosity, that's who.)]

[Franciscus makes a brief appearance at the party, getting a small bowl of Swiss chocolate ice cream to share with Gerard. He won't approach anyone, and can be seen holding his secrets envelope, flipping through the pages of text screenshots. After the ice cream is done, he and Gerard leave for the park.

There, one by one, they visit some small mounds in the ground. Gerard waves a wing, dropping a small rock on each one, and Franciscus makes a yellow flower grow from each grave.]

[Jughead's gaze focuses on the flower growing from the mounds, though the bird creature does get the occasional glance.]

[He looks down at the current mound.] She was shooting birds in the park on Tuesday. I couldn't convince her to stop, but at least I could give them more dignity.

[burgerprince]

Right. I was thinking more about your idea at the trial but-

[He glances again at the dirt, feeling a little uneasy.]

Good to know.

[He nods.] It was fortunate that there was enough mud in the room for Bolin to use.

[burgerprince]

Remind me to thank Wayne for his contributions to the pursuit of justice.

[You can practically hear the air quotes around that last word. Whatever this was, justice it was not.]

It wasn’t a bad idea. It was stupid, but it wasn’t bad.

Yeah. It really sealed the deal. Caught the right guy.

[He sounds slightly more uncomfortable than usual.]

[He nods a little.] It'd have been better if there was no need to catch anyone at all.

Or, you know, we didn't have to kill them.

[Does he sound bitter? Is it that obvious?]

...there was going to be an execution either way. Are you wondering why I volunteered?

Yeah. I am.

[silvertongueheir]

I'm not unfamiliar with killing, though I've never performed an execution. But in battle against Humanity's Wake, we can't afford to hold back. And I confess I was angry with her in particular. [Look at all these bird graves.]

I’m not saying what she did wasn’t wrong, but you guys shouldn’t have been in such a hurry to kill her.

[silvertongueheir]

[A sigh.] So we should just have let the Sergeant do it himself, is what you mean?

[burgerprince]

Yes? You shouldn't all have been so excited to kill someone.
