Week 5: April 29th - May 3rd

Fifth Week

Everything's getting worse. Rose Nylund and Frasier Crane murdered Jughead Jones during the event Jughead worked so hard to organize. Given some of the townspeople were in attendance, it didn't give a good impression -- if the visitors did this when trying to be good people and get along with Cartesio, then how will they behave once they get into destroying everything? The cruel method of Jughead's death also left everyone quite horrified, too.

That may be why it's no surprise the town's quiet unrest is slowly turning into real, tangible fury.

During the week, from time to time stones break some of the windows of the motel, looking outside shows a random passerby running away. Graffiti is left on the walls: 'SEE IF YOU LIKE THIS' 'MURDERERS' 'YOU'RE GOING TO DESTROY US ALL', and other similar messages. Some of the store owners hesitate when the visitors approach, but they don't refuse service because money is always nice.

The Sergeant's pervasive influence is starting to cover not only you, but also the entire town of Cartesio. After all, everything that's happening to you and the motel? It's the result of what you and the other visitors have done.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[ That must be because they're the only two spiky blonds left. RIP, fellow blonds. Your sacrifice was not in vain!! Also, he thoughtfully crosses his arms. Hm... ]

Flying's the one I'm interested in. [ Can you see where this is going? Bet you can. ] Do you think you can lift someone up while flying?

[They're the only blonds left.

Hawks actually laughs at Stings suggestion, keeping the grin when he finished]

We weren't even here one day and I had to carry Bakugou off when he tried to attack the Sergeant.

[He sizes up Sting real fast-- slightly taller and definitely heavier, if Hawks remembers the guestbook right. Not so to be unmanageable, however.]

You need a lift somewhere?

[ But they're both spiky so it still counts!! Solidarity either way! ]

No, not a lift. But— [ How to say "Happy's always carrying Natsu around and it looks fun" without sounding stupid? He and Lector have never tried it before, but he wouldn't want to put that pressure on his friend anyway. This might be his one shot to try flying (putting aside float cookies). Embarrassed, he looks down. ] —it looks like it's fun, that's all.

No need to get all shy--I can understand wanting to fly. There's really nothing that compares to the feeling of it.

[The day Hawks managed his first successful flight will always be one of his favorite memories. Nothing beats the freedom the air brings.

Hawks shakes off the memories and closes what distance there was between them. His wings open wide in preparation.] Now. Princess carry or bear hug?

[unfashionably]

Uh. [ Why those options... Also, he's never been princess carried before. He can't picture it, but maybe that's because he's done the same to too many people over the years.

He pauses for a moment before coming closer. ] Think this'll work? [ Annnd now he's trying to lift Hawks up into a princess carry instead. If he carries Hawks then, clearly, Hawks can lift them both up!! It makes perfect sense. ]

[Except wings make princess carries very difficult, and between a startled "hey!" and some frantic flaps, Hawks pushes Stings shoulders to leverage out of his arms. Once he's a safer distance, Hawks holds his hands up in a placating motion. If his wings are still ruffled up, he's not going to point it out.]

Hey now big guy, I can't fly if you're holding me like that. Maybe some other time.

[unfashionably]

[ They sure do!! Listen, just because his plan was ill-conceived doesn't mean it couldn't have worked...! Probably. ... okay, yeah, even he admits it was not a good plan and when the wings start-a-flappin', he starts a-backin'.

Poor ruffly feathers. Do birds like their feathers being petted? Maybe that will Appease him. ] ... yeah, sorry. [ He starts scratching his head awkwardly. ] Really, I'm sorry. [ Yes, it warrants repeating. ]

It's fine, it's fine. [Please don't cry, Hawks was mostly just startled.

He'll approach again, his feathers back to flat but wings still spread.]

Here, we'll start with this. Hold your arms away from your chest.

[Once Sting complies well enough, Hawks moves behind him to wrap his arms around Sting's torso. Once his grip is secure, he'll immediately start a-flappin' for real. It doesn't take more than a couple before they're airborn and starting to ascend.]

[ Listen, not even he would cry over this!! Even though he cries a lot but somehow, mysteriously, has yet to actually cry in Cartesio. On screen, off screen he's probably cried from frustration once or twice but that's neither here nor there.

Ahem, anyway, Sting uncertainly moves his arms according to Hawks' instructions. Like, you still wanna do this??? Really? ] Like this? [ Probably, yes, and while it's a lot weird to be basically in another man's arms and he feels kind of like a toddler, he's all for this once the real a-flappin' starts.

And... then he kind of wiggles around like an excited child?? This will clearly make flying very, very easy. ] Whoa! This is awesome!

[icariot]

[If this hold doesn’t do it for you, there’s always princess carry.

Hawks grunts slightly before tightening his grip as much as possible. Hopefully Sting is durable enough to survive a two story fall if he wiggles much more, since they’re currently a couple dozen feet up.]

I know, right? [A thoughtful hum, once he levels out to mostly-gliding] You want to try something even more exciting?
