Fifth Week

Everything's getting worse. Rose Nylund and Frasier Crane murdered Jughead Jones during the event Jughead worked so hard to organize. Given some of the townspeople were in attendance, it didn't give a good impression -- if the visitors did this when trying to be good people and get along with Cartesio, then how will they behave once they get into destroying everything? The cruel method of Jughead's death also left everyone quite horrified, too.

That may be why it's no surprise the town's quiet unrest is slowly turning into real, tangible fury.

During the week, from time to time stones break some of the windows of the motel, looking outside shows a random passerby running away. Graffiti is left on the walls: 'SEE IF YOU LIKE THIS' 'MURDERERS' 'YOU'RE GOING TO DESTROY US ALL', and other similar messages. Some of the store owners hesitate when the visitors approach, but they don't refuse service because money is always nice.

The Sergeant's pervasive influence is starting to cover not only you, but also the entire town of Cartesio. After all, everything that's happening to you and the motel? It's the result of what you and the other visitors have done.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[Yeah, he gets the implications.] Do you need help finishing it up, then?

[She shrugs.]

Only if you want some. Not a big deal to me.

[He just smiles and takes a scoop.] Is the sauce your own recipe? It smells most tantalizing.

[robitussin]

[She nods, but...]

You might not want to get your hopes up. I'm not, like, an incredible cook.

[silvertongueheir]

Well, it seems you've done quite well compared to some of the other people who've been using this place. ["Edible" is already a great thing compared to some of the stuff people have been making here...]

[robitussin]

I'm taking that to mean that the bar is really, really low.

[silvertongueheir]

You have seen some of the...experiments performed here, haven't you? [He's loathe to actually call them cooking.]

[robitussin]

...Can't say I have. In case you haven't noticed, I don't pay attention to most people.

[Which is absolutely not true, but she has a reputation to keep, or something.]

[silvertongueheir]

Well, then I say you are fortunate not to. [He's going to try a bit of her pasta after saying that, just to see how it tastes.]

[robitussin]

...Do I want to know?

[It tastes pretty average! She isn't an amazing cook by any means, but she's certainly not awful, either. Just run of the mill.]

[silvertongueheir]

I don't think Kino understands the purpose of spices at all. I would not be surprised if the proportion of spices to actual food was one-to-one, or even greater.

[robitussin]

[A pause.]

I mean, I guess when you live on the road you have to eat whatever you can find, but - yikes.

[silvertongueheir]

[A nod.] So you can see why this is a relief, in comparison. [It actually??? Tastes like food??? Wow???]

[robitussin]

[She shrugs.]

It's not hard to make it decent if you're cooking for yourself most of the time.

[silvertongueheir]

[Well, admittedly he doesn't know much about that.] Still, it's a much better smell than this place has had for a while.
