Fifth Week

Everything's getting worse. Rose Nylund and Frasier Crane murdered Jughead Jones during the event Jughead worked so hard to organize. Given some of the townspeople were in attendance, it didn't give a good impression -- if the visitors did this when trying to be good people and get along with Cartesio, then how will they behave once they get into destroying everything? The cruel method of Jughead's death also left everyone quite horrified, too.

That may be why it's no surprise the town's quiet unrest is slowly turning into real, tangible fury.

During the week, from time to time stones break some of the windows of the motel, looking outside shows a random passerby running away. Graffiti is left on the walls: 'SEE IF YOU LIKE THIS' 'MURDERERS' 'YOU'RE GOING TO DESTROY US ALL', and other similar messages. Some of the store owners hesitate when the visitors approach, but they don't refuse service because money is always nice.

The Sergeant's pervasive influence is starting to cover not only you, but also the entire town of Cartesio. After all, everything that's happening to you and the motel? It's the result of what you and the other visitors have done.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[ It's hard to tell where the fan is coming from. It seems to be kind of all around you. ]

[Oh? Looks like there's something! It's a plastic bottle of...something. Hm. Too dark to tell unless you look closely at the label]

[PEEEEEERING AT THAT and sidling closer to our light people for a better look.]

[It's a bottle of cooking oil! Just...sitting there on one random table because why not.

A close examination will show there's not much cooking oil inside. Not nearly enough to make a good fire]

[Alas? Except Kino doesn't know what the mission is yet so...]

-Are we supposed to cook something here?

[What.]

That seems less destructive than usual.

[...although with this group, who knows?]

We've been asked to burn this place down. Oil is probably meant as an accelerant.

[Oh. Glancing over Dabi's way.]

That sounds easy enough.

Wait, do we really want to burn this place down?

I mean, for starters, we're still kinda stuck in here.

Securing an escape first does take priority, but... The mission itself isn't too hard.

[Soar high, Hawks! But not too high, because there sure is a ceiling here.

No fan, but...there seems to be something here, embedded into the ceiling. Someone should direct a light over here]

Hey hotshot, some light? [gonna pluck and then wave a feather at Dabi to be lit up as a portable light. RIP feather, but at least there’s some light here for a minute or two?]

Catch. [ The tiniest little fireball (ember) to light the feather on fire. Hopefully you find something better than gum, Hawks. ]

[ Mmm, gotta LOVE the smell of burning feathers.

Don't get it too close, because it seems you've found a fire alarm under a grate. ]

[If Hawks were to wave his feather closer, would the sprinkler system activate and take out the fog?]

[Eventually Hawks wanders back over here after getting a screwdriver from Kino. Guess what? He’s going to come after the fire alarm]

[Valiant effort, Hawks!

But it seems the fire alarm is a bit too far into this indentation to be reached with the screwdriver alone. The screwdriver does fit through the grid, though, so there's that part done. Way to go!]

[After walking off Hawks comes back with the screwdriver taped to the mop. Can it reach now?]

[Turns out you can! The screwdriver at the end of the mop fits through the grid, slamming onto the fire alarm.

It does take a few hits to destroy the alarm. It beeps after the first time, falls apart at the second, until, from it, falls a last piece of stained glass. It clanks against the grid. As if that was all the grid needed, it slowly starts jutting out.

You better catch it before it comes crashing down, Hawks]
