Fifth Week

Everything's getting worse. Rose Nylund and Frasier Crane murdered Jughead Jones during the event Jughead worked so hard to organize. Given some of the townspeople were in attendance, it didn't give a good impression -- if the visitors did this when trying to be good people and get along with Cartesio, then how will they behave once they get into destroying everything? The cruel method of Jughead's death also left everyone quite horrified, too.

That may be why it's no surprise the town's quiet unrest is slowly turning into real, tangible fury.

During the week, from time to time stones break some of the windows of the motel, looking outside shows a random passerby running away. Graffiti is left on the walls: 'SEE IF YOU LIKE THIS' 'MURDERERS' 'YOU'RE GOING TO DESTROY US ALL', and other similar messages. Some of the store owners hesitate when the visitors approach, but they don't refuse service because money is always nice.

The Sergeant's pervasive influence is starting to cover not only you, but also the entire town of Cartesio. After all, everything that's happening to you and the motel? It's the result of what you and the other visitors have done.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

I'd prefer that.

[But it's not a strong preference, and he's not going to insist if Niwa insists otherwise. He turns back to the cursed pachinko machine, growing steadily impatient with his ghost friend. At Niwa's question, he looks over again.]

...What's that supposed to mean?

I'm not sure. Something we damage would "transfer" the damage to something else? Like putting nails in a straw doll... that's the first thing that comes to mind. I'll have to see if they say anything else.

[Starting the new game.]

Ah, their moves have gotten a lot bolder. They'd have to beat their last score to make it onto the board...

[That's... actually a really interesting line of thought and Keith's giving it some serious consideration, his attention now fully on Niwa.]

Hearing you say that makes me wonder if that's why the Sergeant keeps trying to make us destroy the town... They telling you anything else?

It's certainly not easy to communicate when all we have are the scoreboards...

[But after a moment passes, she puts a hand over her mouth - from where Keith is, her giggle is only barely audible.]

...Hey, Keith. I think you should see for yourself.

[Well, he;s glad someone's having a good time? Pachinko buddy here is being a quiet/absent jerk..

Keith stands up, Cosmo following close behind to take a look at what's given Niwa a case of the giggles.]

...Ah. That's bold.

[Admittedly? That name's got him smiling, too.]
