Fifth Week

Everything's getting worse. Rose Nylund and Frasier Crane murdered Jughead Jones during the event Jughead worked so hard to organize. Given some of the townspeople were in attendance, it didn't give a good impression -- if the visitors did this when trying to be good people and get along with Cartesio, then how will they behave once they get into destroying everything? The cruel method of Jughead's death also left everyone quite horrified, too.

That may be why it's no surprise the town's quiet unrest is slowly turning into real, tangible fury.

During the week, from time to time stones break some of the windows of the motel, looking outside shows a random passerby running away. Graffiti is left on the walls: 'SEE IF YOU LIKE THIS' 'MURDERERS' 'YOU'RE GOING TO DESTROY US ALL', and other similar messages. Some of the store owners hesitate when the visitors approach, but they don't refuse service because money is always nice.

The Sergeant's pervasive influence is starting to cover not only you, but also the entire town of Cartesio. After all, everything that's happening to you and the motel? It's the result of what you and the other visitors have done.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

Someone by that name might've been trying to talk to me.

Oh.

[She pauses, frowning.]

...You sure they weren't trying to say something else?

[marmoron]

I don't know if they were actually named Gabe.

I was passing by a fighting game that had characters that were pre-named. They picked the characters "Keith" and "Gabe."Like I said to Sakura, Gabe was a muscular character and I don't know if that's how they actually look or if it was just posturing. The guy gave Keith a pummeling and then told me people can vanish on their high score screen.

Does the name "Gabe" mean something to you?

...Yeah, but - I think it's more likely that someone just chose it randomly.

[She chews on her lip.]

You got any guesses as to what they meant by that?

[marmoron]

[He'll raise an eyebrow, but doesn't ask further questions.]

Guesses, sure. Nothing I'd put money on.

Vanishing obviously means something different than dying in this context. Could be that they're trying to tell us that they're not dead, they're "vanished."

Culd also be referring to people vanishing in general -- people who've been an inconvenience maybe. People that the Sergeant doesn't want us to meet.

[robitussin]

...Maybe that's why we could talk to the people from Sakura and Millium's group, even the ones who didn't die?

[marmoron]

[Right. Nagisa is a thing, huh.]

That might be it. So if being vanished means you end up at the same place that the dead from our group have ended up, then doesn't that mean we should be able to bring them all back?

[...Not that being dead is really a hard block on bringing people back in Keith's experience, but.]

[robitussin]

[There's a beat.]

...You're not serious. We watched them get shot, you don't just come back from that kind of thing.

[marmoron]

[She's getting a look.]

I've seen and heard of crazier things. Besides you do remember that the Sergeant's offering to bring people back from the dead this week, right? You're probably thinking it's a bluff or whatever, but I know that can be done.
