Fifth Week

Everything's getting worse. Rose Nylund and Frasier Crane murdered Jughead Jones during the event Jughead worked so hard to organize. Given some of the townspeople were in attendance, it didn't give a good impression -- if the visitors did this when trying to be good people and get along with Cartesio, then how will they behave once they get into destroying everything? The cruel method of Jughead's death also left everyone quite horrified, too.

That may be why it's no surprise the town's quiet unrest is slowly turning into real, tangible fury.

During the week, from time to time stones break some of the windows of the motel, looking outside shows a random passerby running away. Graffiti is left on the walls: 'SEE IF YOU LIKE THIS' 'MURDERERS' 'YOU'RE GOING TO DESTROY US ALL', and other similar messages. Some of the store owners hesitate when the visitors approach, but they don't refuse service because money is always nice.

The Sergeant's pervasive influence is starting to cover not only you, but also the entire town of Cartesio. After all, everything that's happening to you and the motel? It's the result of what you and the other visitors have done.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[Only Dabi would look at a junkyard and think it's a perfect Lovers Lane.

Internally Hawks grimaces. The only place they can cook isn't in the motel, which makes the idea more unpleasant than it would be otherwise. Unless Dabi thinks poptarts are a balanced breakfast, in which case there's probably a different conversation they need to have. Although....

Hawks shifts the barest bit, letting the wing behind Dabi cup around him as he tilts his head towards Dabi fractionally.]

I'll bring the popcorn, if you want to pick the movie. Though you should know I'm not much of a rom-com guy.

[He doesn't watch many movies in general, considering they involve so much sitting and not-thinking. Hopefully Dabi's aesthetic isn't an indicator that a scary movie is coming, and that he's going to regret giving that ground.]

[ Dabi's reactions are normally well schooled, but he can't hide how the cigarette nearly slips from his fingers. The crazy bird was serious, wasn't he? Clearly this talk deserves his full attention before he winds up agreeing to anything else he's gonna regret. The stick is tossed off to the side somewhere— it probably won't light the whole junkyard up, even if that's kinda preferable to sitting for a movie night. Dabi knows Hawks wouldn't let him just sleep through it like he normally did whenever Kurogiri tried to enforce bonding time between the League, either.

The pro hero isn't the only one internally grimacing. Too late now, though. ]

Why would I wanna deal with you competing for who can make the worst one liners? No rom coms if you bring actual popcorn and not just popcorn chicken.

[Sometimes being competitive means they both win. Other times they both feel like they lose and put up appearances anyway.

Hawks feels the slightest bit victorious when the cigarette twitches in Dabi's hand. That could be for any number of reasons, but it being tossed immediately after suggests the villain doesn't want it to react like that again, suggesting a negative tell. Still could mean a lot of different things, but it's lifting Hawks' spirits regardless. Gave some ground, but won some back.]

You know mine would win, hands down. [preen preen!] And popcorn chicken is amazing, excuse you, but I know no movie is complete without regular popcorn.

[Hopefully Hawks brings enough popcorn, because if it's a horror film some it is probably going to go flying.]

You're lucky that I enjoy shutting you up, birdbrain. [ Dabi enjoys getting most people to shut up to be fair, but it never involves kissing except in current company. Pushing his obvious innuedo aside, Dabi just stares. Beggers can't be choosers really, but the amount of chicken he's eaten in the past few weeks is something only Fat Gum should consume. ]

You say that 'bout every kind of chicken. Surprised you haven't replaced Colonel Sanders yet, whad'ya pay your agent for anyway?

Just because you don't appreciate chicken doesn't mean I'm wrong. [A slightly helpless shrug] ...and KFC wouldn't let me be Colonel Sanders if I did a gig with them, I already tried.

[He even got his agent to try and convince them otherwise, but it didn't go well. "The Colonel is too iconic," they say, as though Hawks is less iconic. For shame.]

[amburere]

[ There's a difference between liking chicken and consuming it like your life depended on it. Still, he's eaten the meals Hawks cook without much complaint given it's light years ahead of what he normally scrounges up for food on his own. ]

Oh good, least I don't have to worry 'bout fucking a fast food mascot anytime soon. Got a rep to uphold and all. [ Smirking as he says this, despite the fact that he probably shouldn't be proud of everything going on here. ]

[Contrary to Dabi's normal M.O., people do indeed need to eat to live.

Hawks laughs, and when he finishes he smiles a bit too wide to be totally innocent.]

Oh? I didn't know your rep was that easily shaken. Maybe I should hook you up with a new PR manager.

[amburere]

[ He snorts, amused by the thought. Didn't matter how good someone was, there wasn't any way of spinning who he was and what he did, not that Dabi cared anyway. ]

And cut Giran out after he brought us together? That'd be cruel, Hawks. 

[icariot]

[Hawks’ wing curls closer around Dabi’s shoulders while he leans in from the other side. The teasing tone still isn’t quite gone, though his voice has gone from boisterous to low and suggestive.]

All’s fair in love and war. I’m sure Giran will understand, Hotshot.

[amburere]

[ There's a brief flicker in Dabi's eyes—love huh? Despite the teasing manner, something tightens in his gut. Yeah they've talked enough, and he could use something more to occupy his mouth with after the loss of his cigarette. ]

Whatever you say, hero. [ Cause if anything goes, then Dabi doesn't have to play nice. Well, for what little amount he was at least. Forget about subtle suggestions, cause the sudden contact is anything but. Moving to some place more private (and less tetanus-ey) is probably the best course of action, but the voice of reason certainly won't be from the villain here. ]

[Good thing Hawks could talk enough for the both of them, reason or otherwise. He's also well versed in courses of action, which is what drives to leave his comfortable perch, Dabi getting tugged along impatiently.]

Hero says take this somewhere else, then, before we really give the rags something to talk about.

[amburere]

And I thought you liked notoriety as much as I do. [ Dabi follows along despite his words to the contrary, but not before letting his impatience act one more time. Good thing speed was never something he had to worry about with Hawks. ]

I like useful notoriety, but we can debate semantics later. We’ve got more important matters to get to. [Such as noting down how many different sounds Dabi keeps inciting, because there sure are a lot of them.]
