WEEK 0 — ARRIVAL

Week 0: Arrival

When you wake up you immediately feel something’s off. You sit on the bed and find it’s not your bed, and this isn’t your room either. You seem to be in a rather normal-looking motel room. To your side there’s a trunk, if you open it you’ll find a military uniform, the key to your room, a set of rules and a debit card. Don’t lose those items! Or do lose the rules, you'll find a brand new copy the next day under your pillow. There’s also a calendar on the wall, you can see today’s date. The year is unreadable, but the month and day are very clear:

March 28^th
There it says ‘Meet the Sergeant at the Lodge, 9:00 AM’. There’s also a circle around March 31st, with the word ‘END’ scrawled there.

For now leaving your motel room would be a good choice. When you reach the lobby, you see the receptionist’s desk— no one’s manning it. There’s a rack filled with maps, marking several locations in the town.

There are also many strangers here – and you’re one more. For now it may be a good idea to take a map and explore the town.

After all, looks like you’re stuck here in the boonies for a while.

[It doesn't matter where you are in the town, because the moment Sakura wakes up her eyes and goes out of the motel, she is immediately yelling that single sound out of sheer surprise, frantically running around to see if she can find out where she is and if there's anyone there. Or anything.

But of course she's only paying half attention, which means she might end up ramming head first into a stranger.

[ oh good fucking god that was definitely someone running into him.

el melloi the second may be a tower in terms of height, but he's as thin as a toothpick and stumbles when sakura rams into him. at least he doesn't fall, so he can keep at least some of his pride.

he quirks an eyebrow, and sees that it's...a young girl. ah. ]

Are you alright, my Lady?

[ Jake is laying down the various maps on the ground in the lobby, trying to build a giant map of the town on the floor. It takes up a lot of space. He's muttering things to himself like 'THINK LIKE AMY WOULD'. After awhile, he jumps up to try to get a pad and paper and....

...accidentally scatters all the maps with a slip of the knee.

The horrified look on his face is epic. ]

Whoa!

[ Jake catches her with hands on her shoulders, pressing her backwards slightly. He takes one look at her face and blanches. She innocent. ]

Hey, uh, hey. Hey. You okay? You cool?

[clearities]

Um! Um...!

[The moment she finds out she's run into someone is the moment where she realizes that she should honestly slow down, taking a step back, even though she's stumbling quite a bit.

She nods several times, bobbing her head up and down in response.]

I'm sorry! [Let her just. Bow in apology for bumping into him first.] I'm okay, I just-- I don't know where I am, so...

[ You'll meet a concerned looking Japanese teenager in the hallway in front of the rooms. She's holding the rule booklet and when she walks up to you, she points to the "danger of being killed part". ]

Just what kind of "participant" is there supposed to be in this place?!

b.)
[ Lovepon wants to know just what on earth is going on here, so she'll make her way from the motel to the lodge pretty soon after, though she'll stop and examine just about anything on the way there. She's never left Japan, so all of this is a little foreign to her and warrants a curious glance. ]

[clearities]

Ahh--

[Okay that definitely was a bit of a shock to her, but she's fine, at least. Definitely unhurt. Sakura manages to straighten herself and skip backwards, away from the person who helped her and smiles brightly, reassuring.]

Mm! [A rather triumphant nod.] I'm okay! But... you don't know where we are, do you?

[londonstar]

[ oh fuck no.

out of all the weird things lord el melloi has been through, this has got to be the most ridiculous one. he doesn't panic, but his stomach already begins to churn unhappily due to the new stress in his life.

at the receptionist's desk, he'll help himself to a couple different maps before setting out. and, when he finds someone that looks just as lost as he feels, he'll approach them. ]

Are you lost as well?

[doublelammy]

[Millium has no clue where she is. This doesn't sound like a place Gramps would have sent her to, and besides, wouldn't she have gotten a mission briefing?

Well, whatever. She's here, now, which means it's time to explore! And you better believe that she lost everything she was given within all of two seconds and without even looking at it.]

Woooah. This place is cool! Let's go check it out, Lammy!

[And she raises her hand into the air all excitedly, for... nothing.]

...Lammy?

[ONE MORE TRY aaaaand nope.]

...Boo. This would be way more fun if Lammy were here. [She pauses briefly, as if considering the ramifications of this, before -] Oh well!

[Aaand she's off. Better hope you're not in her way, or she'll bowl you right over.]

[streetwolf]

[Yeah...Not wearing the military gear, fuck that. He's sticking with his blazer over a yellow hoodie, not even touching the other clothes. He's not staying in the motel either. The only way he's going to work out where he was, was to go and check.

So he's sulking out, hood up and hands in his pockets.

He's not going near the police station. And is silently getting around through any back alleys he can find. He might be heading towards the weapon shop. Nothing to see here!]

[londonstar]

Don't fret. [ he should have seen her first, so he accepts her apology without a second thought.

his expression softens when he realizes that she's lost in this place as well. ]

It seems that we are in the same situation-- did you also wake up in the motel?

[dieharddiehard]

[ Jake doesn't handle kids well. But he's going to try, because scaring her off isn't exactly on his to-do list. Or making himself look stupid. He's not sure which is the worse one. ]

I just know what I found when I woke up, a bunch of stuff in a motel room. What about you? You know anything?

[streetwolf]

[Just walks straight over the maps with his muddy boots.]

[ Now he's being followed not so silently by Jake. Hey, the guy's good at chase scenes, not being a ninja. But the guy is trying to be silent, and you can tell by the way he's hunched himself down and started tiptoeing. He just happens to keep doing things like bumping into walls. And worst is how he mutters 'damn' every time it happens.

Best stealth mission ever. ]

[He's leaving, but he stops, tilting his head back to look at her.]

Who knows. It all sounds like a load of bullshit, you see the last bit?

[clearities]

[She nods, bringing her hand to her chest to take in a few deep breaths, in and out, trying to calm herself down. Panicking would do her no good in a situation like this. Even if she's fully aware that she knows who would be concerned about her...]

...Ah, yes! I did!

[clearities]

[Thankfully, Sakura isn't scared of adults-- rather, she's terrified of ghosts, along with a bunch of other things. Like monsters. But she tries her best anyway.]

I think I saw some things, but... I panicked and left the room almost immediately.

[dieharddiehard]

Hey!

[ Gets a really upset look on his face and picks up one of the maps, throwing them at him. What are you trying to do, Jake, give him a papercut? ]

I put work into that!

[ Never mind that he'd kind of ruined it himself first. ]

[ as a former participant of the holy grail war and a witness of one too many incidents involving murder, the lord is only mildly annoyed over the fact that he has to deal with something like this again.

but when he sees strangers involved in this, especially a teenager, it's hard to hide his scowl. ]

I believe the rules are quite clear, Lady.

[odoruhinokaze]

Bingo.

[ He's leaning against the wall, looking relaxed but likely with the air of someone who does not seem to fit in -- just like everyone else who had been brought here. ]

What gave it away?

[When Nagisa stumbles out of his room, he's both very dazed and very focused at the same time, with no in-between, with his nose tucked in the rule booklet. He's already read it five times. He continues reading it repeatedly, stuck in his own little world, as he walks through the motel. Evidently he's aware enough of his surroundings to smoothly step around any obstacles and people.

He only stops once he's outside, looking up and giving his surroundings a careful once-over. One may be able to note his eyes are kind of red, too.]

Is this...America?

[odoruhinokaze]

[ When the girl goes and nearly runs into him, he has to step out of the way. ]

Woah there! Might want to slow down, kid.

Wouldn't want to crash into someone else -- you know, almost like you did with me?

[streetwolf]

[Wayne's noticed and ignores him for the first few corners. Then it gets annoying.

So he stops and turns around right after going down an offshoot. He's waiting for the guy.]

[londonstar]

I see.

[ he nods slowly, letting the girl relax before taking out one of the maps that he took from the lobby, handing it to her.

he thinks of the rules and the chance of being killed and he feels a sour taste in his tongue. ]

This is a map of the area. Would you like to investigate the area with me, Lady?

[streetwolf]

[The normal response would be to tell the truth. They're all in the same boat after all.

Expect this guy looks shady, with his long hair and adult...adultness? So Wayne shrugs, hunching his shoulders.]

No... Why would I be?

[Must not show weakness.]
