WEEK 0 — ARRIVAL

Week 0: Arrival

When you wake up you immediately feel something’s off. You sit on the bed and find it’s not your bed, and this isn’t your room either. You seem to be in a rather normal-looking motel room. To your side there’s a trunk, if you open it you’ll find a military uniform, the key to your room, a set of rules and a debit card. Don’t lose those items! Or do lose the rules, you'll find a brand new copy the next day under your pillow. There’s also a calendar on the wall, you can see today’s date. The year is unreadable, but the month and day are very clear:

March 28^th
There it says ‘Meet the Sergeant at the Lodge, 9:00 AM’. There’s also a circle around March 31st, with the word ‘END’ scrawled there.

For now leaving your motel room would be a good choice. When you reach the lobby, you see the receptionist’s desk— no one’s manning it. There’s a rack filled with maps, marking several locations in the town.

There are also many strangers here – and you’re one more. For now it may be a good idea to take a map and explore the town.

After all, looks like you’re stuck here in the boonies for a while.

[Millium has no clue where she is. This doesn't sound like a place Gramps would have sent her to, and besides, wouldn't she have gotten a mission briefing?

Well, whatever. She's here, now, which means it's time to explore! And you better believe that she lost everything she was given within all of two seconds and without even looking at it.]

Woooah. This place is cool! Let's go check it out, Lammy!

[And she raises her hand into the air all excitedly, for... nothing.]

...Lammy?

[ONE MORE TRY aaaaand nope.]

...Boo. This would be way more fun if Lammy were here. [She pauses briefly, as if considering the ramifications of this, before -] Oh well!

[Aaand she's off. Better hope you're not in her way, or she'll bowl you right over.]

[ When the girl goes and nearly runs into him, he has to step out of the way. ]

Woah there! Might want to slow down, kid.

Wouldn't want to crash into someone else -- you know, almost like you did with me?

[doublelammy]

[Millium stops, turning back to the guy she nearly ran into with an inquisitive look, before just smiling.]

Ehehe. Maybe everyone else just needs to learn to dodge as fast as you!

Maybe they do.

[ He smirks at that. He's a pretty fast guy, after all. ]

What's the reason for hurrying around? Looking for someone?

[doublelammy]

Nope! Just looking around.

I dunno where I am, so I figure the best way to figure it out is to explore!

[odoruhinokaze]

[ Not a bad idea. ]

Why don't we look around together? Might as well, right?

[Millium responds to that idea with a bright grin.]

Trust me, I'm a pretty fast guy. You're gonna have to be careful to keep from lingering behind.

[ Time to hurry forward, starting towards outside of this building because the town's a great place to start. ]

[doublelammy]

[The only thing keeping Millium right on his heels, as opposed to side-by-side, is that Millium is tiny. Curse you, long-legged spiky man!]

So, hey! [Because, you know, chatting while you run.] What's your name, anyhow?

[odoruhinokaze]

[ Long legs ftw! ]

Name's Axel. Got it memorized?

[ Because of course he says that 9/10 times he gives his name. ]

And you, little partner?

[doublelammy]

Axel! I think I can remember that!

[It worked one whole time, buddy. It'll never happen again.]

I'm Millium! Millium Orion.

[odoruhinokaze]

Good. Shouldn't be too difficult anyway.

[ And they make it outside! ]

Nice to meet you, Millium. You know, I'm surprised even a kid was brought here. Did you manage to see any of your parents lounging about?

[streetwolf]

[Where are you going? Wayne's just going to grab her by the back of shirt, she might be a bit big to pick her up of the ground, but he'll try.]

Hey- Cool it. Geez...

[doublelammy]

[Millium is very small. He might just be able to hoist her up by the back of her shirt, honestly.]

Woah-!

[And there she is, flailing uselessly forward, because HEY, SHE WAS GOING THAT WAY until two seconds ago. After half a second of realizing that's not working, she turns back to look at the guy holding her in place.]

Heyyyy! I was exploring! [She says, indignantly.]

[streetwolf]

[Have fun being picked up then. Just going to dangle her in the air.]

Yeah? You find anything?

[doublelammy]

Not yet!

[She kicks her feet uselessly for a couple of seconds before falling limp and just glaring up at him.]

Do you make a habit of picking up random little girls?

[streetwolf]

Right.

[Unceremoniously drops her. That's enough of that.]

Great. These guys are picking up little kids too... You okay?

[doublelammy]

[She does not land gracefully, because of course she doesn't. A bit of stumbling later, though, and she's turned to look at him with her hands on her hips, because isn't she just so threatening?]

I was just fine until a certain someone decided to manhandle me.

[...but it doesn't look like she's too upset, because she drops the offended act pretty quickly.]

But yeah, I'm okay. Woke up in some weird inn, then ran right out here to try to figure out where I was.

[Putting her hands behind her head, she frowns a little.]

...Doesn't look like any place in Erebonia I've ever seen, though. And I don't think Gramps would just send me outta the country without telling me...?

[streetwolf]

[He doesn't seem remotely apologetic about it. Shoving his hands in his pockets.]

Well I ain't got a clue what Erebonia is. But this doesn't look like city 23 and I'm pretty sure the rest of Tokyo looks the same.

How shitty is your gramps? [Shouldn't she know if he wouldn't ship her off?]

...Aaaand I have absolutely no clue what kinds of places you're talking about, either. How would you not know what Erebonia is? It's only a giant empire...

...as for Gramps. Well! I guess that depends on who you ask! [Millium. Could you put in like, half an ounce of care about this?] But I think he's pretty okay. At least, if I were gonna be sent on a mission, I'm pretty sure he'd at least tell me. Kinda hard to get intel if I don't even know what I'm looking for.

[streetwolf]

Still haven't heard of it. [He's not going to say it doesn't exist though. He knows of three countries.]

...Now I've got even more questions 'bout the guy. But the point is, he wouldn't just dump you out here, in some hotel room, right?

[doublelammy]

Weird. [And that's all she has to say about that.]

No, I don't think he would. He'd probably set me up with a train or let me ride Lammy...

[ Let's go for option B: bowling with the Ashen Doormat.

She's got a potential target in clear sight, anyway. No doubt one that looks very, very familiar to her, and he's currently trying to survey the lot like a hapless fool not realizing the terrible fate that's likely about to cross paths with him in the form of a hyperactive and aggressively thirteen classmate.

What do you do?
[ A: Greet your friend like a goddamn normal person person would. ]
[ B: Greet your friend like old times. ]

[Who the hell do you think she is? Option B, all the time, every time.

Upon spotting Rean, Millium's face lights up even more. In her time, Rean's yet to come back from Crossbell - after he took Altina instead of her, boo! - and she's thrilled to pieces to see him again. Not that she's not always thrilled to see Rean, but absence does make the heart grow fonder.]

Rean!! [That's all the warning she's going to offer, and given how fast she's coming at him, that is definitely not enough.] Jump attack!!

[What ensues can only be reasonably referred to as a glomp. That is how ridiculous it is. Rest in pieces, Rean.]
