Week 5: Trial

      

Last time it was at dawn. Now it's at sunset. The Sergeant gave everyone plenty of time to investigate and gather evidence, and now that everyone entered the courtroom, he slammed his gavel.

"I can sense a few of you are feeling rather hostile. Remember you're in a courtroom, and you're being watched by everyone in town"

People's opinions of the visitors are already very low, but there's no need to feed them further with a brawl in the courtroom -- or so the Sergeant thinks. There are more podiums draped in black now. Five more people died, seventeen people are alive. How many will be left once the trial is over?

"This time we have three victims in total. Millium Orion, Cian Reikado, and Azura were the unfortunate victims last night, and now you shall debate and decide who is responsible for this.

These are your suspects. Vote for as many as you think are responsible for these crimes"

I could tell. But if there's more than one culprit-san... [ the possibility is there but she doesn't want to think that's the case ]

[Nod.]

She also suspected me before.

Do you think that's why your name is up thee?

[carbide]

I cannot guess how the Sergeant chooses suspects.

Millium was my friend, too. Doesn't change the fact that both of us are suspects right now.

What were you doing on Friday morning?

[carbide]

I was in my room until I heard Natalie shouting outside. I came to see what was happening.

[...hopefully you weren't expecting her to say "I was murdering everyone?"]

Guess we're all saying that now. We were all in our rooms, conveniently until we heard a disturbance

Just means one or more of us are lying. It's looking like when it really comes down to it, none of us have alibis and all of us have had some reason to be interested in the motive.

So it's going to come down to the evidence rather than anything we have to say.

[A beat.]

You[re strong enough to rip off Lammy's arm aren't you?

[carbide]

Potentially. But why would I do so?

[...]

In fact, I know of no reason anyone would.

[marmoron]

It's not a question of why you would or wouldn't do so, it's a question of who was capable of doing it.

[carbide]

Then yes, it would likely be within my ability.

[marmoron]

Good. We've got that cleared up then. Who else on this list has the brute strength necessary to pull that off cuz right now it's looking like it's just you.

[carbide]

I would not know.

[marmoron]

So what's your best defense here, Olympia? I wouldn't kill Millium?

What about Cian. How did you feel about her?

[carbide]

Well-intentioned, probably harmless.

Someone you didn't really care about then.

In that sense, I do not care about any of you.
