Week 5: Trial

      

Last time it was at dawn. Now it's at sunset. The Sergeant gave everyone plenty of time to investigate and gather evidence, and now that everyone entered the courtroom, he slammed his gavel.

"I can sense a few of you are feeling rather hostile. Remember you're in a courtroom, and you're being watched by everyone in town"

People's opinions of the visitors are already very low, but there's no need to feed them further with a brawl in the courtroom -- or so the Sergeant thinks. There are more podiums draped in black now. Five more people died, seventeen people are alive. How many will be left once the trial is over?

"This time we have three victims in total. Millium Orion, Cian Reikado, and Azura were the unfortunate victims last night, and now you shall debate and decide who is responsible for this.

These are your suspects. Vote for as many as you think are responsible for these crimes"

How heavy was the rock? You said sizable, so I'm assuming pretty heavy.

[It did look like it was heavy, but not impossible to be lifted by the average person]

Based on appearances, it looked pretty heavy, but I think it's still possible someone could have lifted it normally.

...Okay. I was thinking it was weird that it was put back in the exact place it was grabbed from, but I guess that's not a lead if anyone could have done that.

[A beat.]

Can I run a few things by you? Since you were at the pond, too.

Two things.

It looks like some of the concealer was used. If there was a struggle at all, I'm thinking some of it might have gotten on the killer. Think it'd be worth checking?

Second... There was a mark in the ground, like someone might have slipped. I think checking for mud might be a good plan, too.

There wasn't any concealer on Miss Azura's clothes, but it's possible some got on the culprit if her hands were anywhere near them... And I've been wondering about the shoe mark as well.

If I check the shoes, would you mind checking for concealer?

Sounds good to me. Where do you think would be most likely? Face, hands, clothes...?

Hands are usually a safe place to check, but to be honest... without knowing the full picture of how they attacked her, it's hard to narrow exactly what might have been in her reach.

...So maybe all three of the places I mentioned, then?

Yeah. Either way, being thorough can't hurt.
