Week 5 - Trial

Week 5: Trial

Last time it was at dawn. Now it's at sunset. The Sergeant gave everyone plenty of time to investigate and gather evidence, and now that everyone entered the courtroom, he slammed his gavel.
"I can sense a few of you are feeling rather hostile. Remember you're in a courtroom, and you're being watched by everyone in town"

People's opinions of the visitors are already very low, but there's no need to feed them further with a brawl in the courtroom -- or so the Sergeant thinks. There are more podiums draped in black now. Five more people died, seventeen people are alive. How many will be left once the trial is over?

"This time we have three victims in total. Millium Orion, Cian Reikado, and Azura were the unfortunate victims last night, and now you shall debate and decide who is responsible for this.

These are your suspects. Vote for as many as you think are responsible for these crimes"

Let the trial begin.

Maybe I should have known better.... S-still, feathers at the crime scene would be pretty hard to miss. Picking them all up myself would be just as time-consuming.

But okay... you mean the offer to bring someone back with you, back from the dead?

[She shakes her head.]

No, that didn't interest me either. The only people I'm devoted to are very much alive.

[she hesitates after that, not sure if she should say this or not, but decides to.]

A-And even if they died, it still wouldn't really matter to me. I'm... not supposed to make attachments. With my line of work, I hope you can understand.

Time-consuming, but not impossible.

[She nods, though.]

Right. Your biography mentions something about espionage, right? Is that what you're referring to, or the... Chicken warrior thing?
pecker: (whew!)

But it would be pretty risky... weren't we assuming some of them died in the morning? I'm not confident enough to push my luck like that!

Yes, though, I mean the espionage. Well, I guess it would be an even worse idea to get attached as the Warrior of the Chicken, but that only has to do with the other house's warriors. And reviving them... I'd never do that, haha! They're basically my enemies!

Millium and Cian, probably, but I don't think we know when Azura died. Unless you know something the rest of us don't.

.......Actually, I might. Though I doubt you'll believe me, s-since I'm a suspect and all.

Tell me what you're thinking and we'll see.

Around 9 PM last night... I lost visuals on the park. A predator frightened all of my birds away. Perhaps it's a coincidence, but given that one of our other suspects has command of a bird much larger than mine... well, I'm afraid it would be my word against his, unless Gerard-san has an alibi as well. I do wonder if Kinzie-san saw him.

...A predator? Did they get any details on what it might have looked like?
pecker: (all righty then)

[personal profile] pecker 2018-11-03 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[She's a little amused by that wording.]

They don't um, talk to me, I can only see through their eyes. Which were focused on their escape route more than looking behind them at the predator. It was also a dark night even for them... So all I could tell was that it was a large animal. I'm sorry to be so vague, but if I were more certain about the predator's identity I would have just come out with it at the start to save us the trouble.

Would they have left like that if it was just a person with a weapon?
pecker: (glancing behind uncertainly)

[personal profile] pecker 2018-11-03 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe a few of them would, but they're used to seeing humans in the park. The person would have to be directly attacking them with it, and I would definitely be able to tell if that were the case. This was an animal, I'm sure of it.

...I'm not sure if it was actually him or if you're just trying to frame him, but that narrows it down either way. Thanks.
pecker: (all righty then)

You're welcome of course.... although, I did say it could also be a coincidence. Even I don't think it would be wise to vote just on my testimony. But I do think the Sarge probably made me a suspect... to discredit me.

Wasn't planning on voting just because of it, but... It gives us more to check.
pecker: (ummmm)

[personal profile] pecker 2018-11-03 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, it does. Thank you for listening at any rate.

Umm... do you have any further questions for me?

Not right now. If anything comes up, I'll ask you later.
