Week 5 - Trial

Week 5: Trial

Last time it was at dawn. Now it's at sunset. The Sergeant gave everyone plenty of time to investigate and gather evidence, and now that everyone entered the courtroom, he slammed his gavel.
"I can sense a few of you are feeling rather hostile. Remember you're in a courtroom, and you're being watched by everyone in town"

People's opinions of the visitors are already very low, but there's no need to feed them further with a brawl in the courtroom -- or so the Sergeant thinks. There are more podiums draped in black now. Five more people died, seventeen people are alive. How many will be left once the trial is over?

"This time we have three victims in total. Millium Orion, Cian Reikado, and Azura were the unfortunate victims last night, and now you shall debate and decide who is responsible for this.

These are your suspects. Vote for as many as you think are responsible for these crimes"

Let the trial begin.

Yeah, well - you didn't count on me, then, did you! Or anyone else here, because if it wasn't me, someone else would have figured out the fucking paint thing! Fuck you!

[..........]

Even so, I had to try.

Because I saw an opportunity to save King Seyfried. I could not allow it to pass.

You said he wasn't even dead yet! You could have just tried to get a stupid medal and go back home!

By then he might have been dead. I could not take that chance when I had the opportunity to guarantee his safety.

[A short pause.]

When I say I could not, I mean I could not.

Now you're not going to be able to go back to him at all! You idiot!

I know that!

[Now she's loud again.]

It was all for nothing!

Maybe you should have thought about that before you killed—

[Her voice cracks; her words come choked out.]

You're going to get... exactly what's coming to you.

I did.

I am different from everyone else here.

...No, you aren't. You're the same as every other homicidal idiot who came before you, who somehow thought they were making the right judgment call when they were all just morons who got caught.

[...]

You're not special at all.

You misunderstand me.

I am a mechanical soldier. I cannot simply choose not to try to accomplish my purpose.

...If that were true, you would have killed someone the first week to get a medal and get back to him.

Getting the medal sooner would not make a difference, so I was waiting for a better opportunity.
