Week 0

You have been threatened by the Sergeant: if nobody dies before March 31st at noon, you, along with everyone else, will forfeit your lives. The Sergeant pushed everyone away from the Lodge, judging that had been enough interaction with his guests. So what now?

Will you submit to the Sergeant’s demands? Will you resist him and wait to see what happens? He wouldn’t be capable of killing you and everyone else, right?

Only time will tell.

The next day you'll find a newspaper at the motel lounge, telling you about today’s weather forecast with 100% accuracy. Looks like you can expect to find a newspaper every day to find out the weather and any other news about the town. It even includes something branded 'THE SHARK ALERT'. Who could that be directed to?

There's also a copy of yesterday's newspaper. There's nothing about the Sergeant or about your predicament, but there is something about your arrival to the town.

Cartesio is your world for the next four days, better make the most out of your time here.

There's no such continent where I'm from, and to my knowledge, there never has been. You're not lying, are you?

It gets easier the more you do it. [ practice makes perfect, etc ] The Earth I know only has seven main continents: Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia. I'm from Asia, specifically the country of Japan.

Sure. Anything is. But you still gotta put in the work. If there's something I gotta lie about, I'd rather just punch whatever's causing the problem.

...Yeah, um. None of those are familiar to me. ...Oh! Asia and Japan, kind of! There are a couple people here from there! But those aren't places where I'm from.

Yes, I've met some of them as well. But what you're saying here is... you're from a different world entirely from us. It's not that I don't believe you, it's just... well, that's a frightening amount of power they have here.

But I've seen plenty of things with power I don't understand before. I'm not gonna let this one keep me down.

That's right. Giving up now would be a little too early. And... such great power would be better put to use protecting people, wouldn't you say?

I guess. I dunno - that kind of stuff doesn't mean a whole lot to me. That's always been Gramps' territory. I just smash things when people ask.

Ah, so you do the grunt work and someone else does the thinking.

S'not like I never think, but yeah, basically. If I gotta collect intel for Gramps, then I can think. But otherwise, that's not really what I was made for.

[She doesn't really seem to have more to comment on about it than that - if he wants more details, he'll have to ask about them specifically.]

Where I'm from we don't specifically make people for anything, though I suppose they can be trained to only be useful [ for ] at one thing.

Normal people aren't, either. But I wouldn't call the Intelligence Division normal.

["Intelligence Division" should probably imply she's some sort of spy. And yet she's just... blabbing all this like it's nothing. Does this child have an ounce of common sense...?

If you start that young, is it normal for soldiers to die young then? Or will they throw you away when you're no longer useful, White Rabbit-san?
