Week 6: May 6th - 10th

Sixth Week

Killers and victims, killers and victims. Three of your own have fallen prey to murderous intent last week. Your numbers keep shrinking. Azura has fallen prey to Franciscus in the same night that Olympia betrayed her friend Millium and killed Cian who wound up in the crossfire. At this rate, is there anyone you can trust?

The townspeople's anger burns hotter than ever. Wherever they go, must they live in fear of stumbling on a corpse? They can't live like this. More than ever, the visitors are being shown that they are unwelcome.

Walking outdoors, cold looks are the norm. Shouted profanity isn't unexpected. Barely anybody is willing to still hold a conversation with any visitors.

Even within the motel, there is no feeling of safety any longer. Not only have two people died in this very place, no, now the townspeople also lost their fear of coming inside. While they don't enter private rooms, the daring among them vent their hatred of you by vandalizing the common rooms.

Cartesio has become a menacing place.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again. Don't mind that some of them have been damaged in one of the attacks on the motel.

Looks like it's time for us to come up with a plan as well.

We have two options-- take this fight and spread it out into the graveyard... or we find a new way to keep them out.

[robitussin]

You're the strategist, right? What would you pick?

[quickpersuader]

If we can barricade him in with heavy items, they'll not only have to get past us, but coordinate to free him.

[cartesio]

[A pair of people approach running, holding what seem to be steel plates. There are stickers of the refinery on them.

They know Kino's got a gun, yup]

[quickpersuader]

[If the steel plates look like they can bounce a .22LR bullet she's gonna shoot to hit the plates.

If not, uh, welp. Guess we've got some people charging us.]

[cartesio]

[The bullets hit the plates. One of the people stumbles, afraid, while the other shouts loudly and pounces forward, shield first.

You have a person trying to tackle you -- a very wide person, if you keep into account they have a steel plate. Outright dodging seems unlikely. Any ideas?]

[quickpersuader]

[Actually just gonna try to flip her hold on the revolver so the grip is in hand and the barrel is facing away from the person before she uses the same hand to punch them in the solar plexus or groin, if either is not covered by the plate.]

[cartesio]

[Good move. Very good move, Kino.

And rather effective. No matter where you hit, that's bound to hurt. The person doubles down, wheezing for air, and drops the steel plate.

You have acquired one (1) large steel plate if you want it, Kino. Meanwhile this person just...falls to the ground, unable to fight for the time being]

Think we could steal a car? We could block their entry pretty well if we put that in the way.

[cartesio]

[Watch out, Natalie! Red paint towards you! A splashing attempt!]

[robitussin]

—Seriously?!

[This is her life now. It's fine. She steps back to evade, but it's unclear whether she'll make it in time.]

[cartesio]

[The thing is, it's tricky to aim paint unless you're real close. This person kept some distance in case Natalie jumped forward and tried to bite their head off.

Most of the paint hits the ground, if anything hits Natalie's it's bound to be on her legs. Cold paint, pretty unpleasant to feel on bare skin, but could be worse]

S-Serves you right!

[And then the person runs away]

We're vastly outnumbered. Using this place as a fortress is still our best bet of coming out of this without any casualties, and of keeping our friend until 6 AM.

However, it wouldn't be bad if someone were able to get us some things from out there-- some of the paint would be nice. We could certainly turn that on them...

[marmoron]

I've got an idea. If two of us grab the chest and run out, they might think Davis is still in there. We can take some of the attention off the mausoleum that way.

[robitussin]

[She nods towards him.]

You and me?

[marmoron]

It's dangerous, you know.

[But that is also not a no.]

[robitussin]

Yeah, I know.

[But it's not that which gives her pause; it's what Hawks is trying.]

...Let's see what happens. It's not off the table, though.

[marmoron]

[There's a bit of a dubious look -- like he doesn't think diplomacy's necessarily going to get them anywhere, but he nods.]

Alright.

[pursuitofdeath]

A distraction isn't a bad idea. But it's risky. Why not try taking one of the cars? It should offer you some extra speed and protection.

[marmoron]

I can do that. Can you provide cover?

[pursuitofdeath]

Absolutely.

[He has paint after all, and he's not afraid to use it.]

[marmoron]

[A nod.]

We'll see if Hawks get through. if not, I'm counting on you.

[cartesio]

[Someone in the crowd sets fire to a can of paint and throws it in. It doesn't have the effect they intended -- the fire extinguishes quickly, but it's still a can of paint soaring through the air]

[pursuitofdeath]

[.....hey he was just saying he wanted a can of paint. WELL THEN. LETS TRY AND CATCH IT.]

[cartesio]

[You have one (1) can of paint. It's still half-full of blue paint]
