Week 6: May 6th - 10th

Sixth Week

Killers and victims, killers and victims. Three of your own have fallen prey to murderous intent last week. Your numbers keep shrinking. Azura has fallen prey to Franciscus in the same night that Olympia betrayed her friend Millium and killed Cian who wound up in the crossfire. At this rate, is there anyone you can trust?

The townspeople's anger burns hotter than ever. Wherever they go, must they live in fear of stumbling on a corpse? They can't live like this. More than ever, the visitors are being shown that they are unwelcome.

Walking outdoors, cold looks are the norm. Shouted profanity isn't unexpected. Barely anybody is willing to still hold a conversation with any visitors.

Even within the motel, there is no feeling of safety any longer. Not only have two people died in this very place, no, now the townspeople also lost their fear of coming inside. While they don't enter private rooms, the daring among them vent their hatred of you by vandalizing the common rooms.

Cartesio has become a menacing place.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again. Don't mind that some of them have been damaged in one of the attacks on the motel.

[ Mason's run out as he heard the helicopters so not ENTIRELY true but: ]

I've seen him! Really, he's... [ A pause. ] He's doing alright! I think!

[cartesio]

[From over the graveyard wall, the hoses stopped, but they're ready to continue watering up the place if they don't like the answer:]

Prove he's not being coerced to side with you!

[Mason, they mean]

[quickpersuader]

[How much time do they even have left?]

Hmm... What could we do to prove that for you?

[Like, she definitely sounds like she's considering it, she just doesn't know what they want really.]

[cartesio]

'I dunno! Do it!'

[Dawn's approaching. The horizon look a bit brighter]

[quickpersuader]

Well...

We aren't really holding weapons up to him or anything. He mostly changed his mind after he talked to Mr. Hawks, and since Mr. Hawks is a hero, it's against his code to hurt anyone.

[Does Kino know this for a fact? No. She's just assuming, though.]

He's around, if you'd like to talk to him.

[pursuitofdeath]

You can send someone in to see him for yourself if you'd like.

[cartesio]

'That doesn't prove anything!'

[pursuitofdeath]

He doesn't gain anything else from working with us other than his friend's safety. If he's safe then there's no other reason to work with us. He could just as easily kill us from this vantage point.

[cartesio]

'Mason wouldn't kill a fly!'

'Unlike certain other people around here'

[Nobody asked you, fireman #2]

[robitussin]

[There's a pause, before:]

How? We'll do whatever you want.

[cartesio]

'We're asking for proof, the burden of proof is on you!'

[It won't be much longer, Natalie. Keep holding on!]

[robitussin]

Shouldn't his word matter more to you than ours? He's one of you, after all. You think we could do anything to make him side against you?

[A shrug.]

...I mean, you can keep getting the ground wet and ruining your own graveyard, but that's going to mess up your town as much as it messes us up.

[cartesio]

[ ]

[Hawks calls out, once him and Nanette find themselves next to Mason and Davis]

Is his word and our pacifism not proof enough for you?

[cartesio]

[ Nanette begins examining the poor man, but hell, she's no medical professional. ]

What the hell kind of tranquilizers...?

"He, uh, I think he's alert, Nanette--"

It's Officer Johnson on duty, Mr. Sterling.

"...Yes ma'am."

[ So that's going great. ]

[icariot]

I don't know what kind, however Mr. Sterling in the peanut gallery is right that he's alert. Nothing anyone has was very strong, last I checked, so it should wear off soon. Maybe a half hour, or an hour, max?

Maybe one of your firemen has EMS training and can confirm he's uninjured and not in danger.

[cartesio]

I'd rather get the man to the hospital, honestly. But if you'd allow us to look him over...

[ There's a bit of an edge in her voice, just a bit of one. Annoyed that she's answering to these people, pretty much...but he's cooperating. ]
