Week 6: May 6th - 10th

Sixth Week

Killers and victims, killers and victims. Three of your own have fallen prey to murderous intent last week. Your numbers keep shrinking. Azura has fallen prey to Franciscus in the same night that Olympia betrayed her friend Millium and killed Cian who wound up in the crossfire. At this rate, is there anyone you can trust?

The townspeople's anger burns hotter than ever. Wherever they go, must they live in fear of stumbling on a corpse? They can't live like this. More than ever, the visitors are being shown that they are unwelcome.

Walking outdoors, cold looks are the norm. Shouted profanity isn't unexpected. Barely anybody is willing to still hold a conversation with any visitors.

Even within the motel, there is no feeling of safety any longer. Not only have two people died in this very place, no, now the townspeople also lost their fear of coming inside. While they don't enter private rooms, the daring among them vent their hatred of you by vandalizing the common rooms.

Cartesio has become a menacing place.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again. Don't mind that some of them have been damaged in one of the attacks on the motel.

I found this out today, but when I asked the Sergeant about the missing bodies, he said that he makes them "go away" because they're a biohazard. He got really defensive, so I told him I was asking because it's weird to mess with a country's burial customs, and he answered that his plans are none of my business.

When I asked if his plans include the dead, both from the tourists and the townspeople, he clammed up and said "not telling." He clutched at his ear for a bit before he answered, too.

I've been trying to get that information to them today, but I'm not sure if I was successful or not.

When he clutches at his ear, it means he's asking his boss how to answer something, I'm pretty sure.

[Moving past that...]

If they were a biohazard, couldn't he just bury them? I'm calling bullshit on that excuse.

[relieable]

Maybe he doesn't want bodies or anything in the ground 'cause he can, like... [he gestures with his hands, trying to figure out how to explain] Interact? With the ground?

I saw him push Sting into the ground... beyond the ground he was standing on.

[robitussin]

Wouldn't that give him more reason to keep him there? If he can control the ground or whatever, he wouldn't have a problem keeping them there, right?

[relieable]

I... don't know. To me, it sounds like bodies in the ground might interfere with whatever else he can do.

[quickpersuader]

That's what I think too, but I haven't been able to check for a device. ...Assuming he needs one, anyway.

Needless to say there's some reason he's making the bodies vanish.

[robitussin]

[She frowns.]

You got any guesses as to the reason?

[quickpersuader]

[Kino's head dips into her hand.]

I'm not sure... but if he took people from Sakura's group and put them in the same place as the dead, doesn't that mean he has some purpose for them being over there?

[robitussin]

...I'm not sure about that, actually. Whether he put him there, I mean.

[She frowns.]

I asked him about Nagisa, since Sakura mentioned that name... The Sergeant said he didn't kill him, and when I asked if he was actually dead or communicating with us another way, he got all freaked out and said he didn't know.

[quickpersuader]

[Kino frowns.]

...Something isn't adding up. Even if Mr. Nagisa and the others got there on their own somehow, or by some other power, why hasn't the Sergeant done anything about it? Especially if he can go to confront them at any time.

[robitussin]

[She thinks about it for a moment, before:]

...His boss doesn't know. If he went to stop them, maybe his boss would find out.

[quickpersuader]

If he fails, he'll probably face death, but he didn't seem to even consider the idea that he might.

[Then again, with the Sergeant, it's hard to tell how much of it is blind optimism and ego.]

[robitussin]

...He might have guessed. When I asked if his boss knew everything that was going on with the ghosts and all that, he said 'I sure hope he doesn't', so - I think he might realize that he's royally fucked if anyone realizes.

[quickpersuader]

He's just confident he's got everything under control, I guess.

[Sarge........]

But it's good to know.

[robitussin]

Yeah. It's good to know things are rapidly escalating beyond his control, at least.

[She shrugs.]

Maybe that's actually a good sign for us.

[quickpersuader]

[Kino nods.]

It might be an advantage we need.

[robitussin]

Fingers crossed, I guess. And... I'll keep badgering him about anything else I think of.
